is this still the only option? kind of a bummer as my portable computers are all android/chrome OS.
I ordered a cheap small flippable dell laptop with a touch screen and I just flip it and use it like a tablet. Pretty much anything with Windows will run Forscan. Even a Mac with windows will run it fine. There is the Forscan lite app but it does not let you do coding changes.

My understanding is that a USB scanner setup with Windows OS is the best option. I think there are Bluetooth scanner options for Android, but they are less capable.

note that they have a Wine compile of the windows version, which should run on pretty much any linux, and I think any bad, too. this would avoid needing. a windows license. Probably on an x86 Mac (but not the last couple of years since apple went arm, M1-M4)

Wine's site rates functionality as gold.

I’ve been using one of these diesel laptop kits and it actually comes with Forscan + Ford IDS, so it works great on all Ford models (Maverick, F-series, etc.):

https://truckscanners.com/product/diesel-scanner-2026/

It’s a simple plug-and-play setup with a USB scanner.
To be clear, you’re recommending a $2,600 device?

…Instead of a $40 cable, a $20 license, and an old Windows laptop?
