Can anyone recommend a OBD2 Scanner for non experts to read and clear codes. Just tried the highly rated Launch CRP129E 2022 and it would not recognize the new 2022 Maverick. Emailed them but nothing yet.

Any advice for our new Mav would be appreciated......

Since I'm still waiting for my Maverick I can't tell you if it's updated, but I really like my BlueDriver Scan Tool.

I've been using the Carly App. Works on everything in my driveway. Is subscription based though.

OK, sounds like Forscan is actually working. Is it better to get the windows version or is there some type of handheld unit ?

Thanks you very much for all the replies and please keep them coming for us newbies.

If you just want to clear codes, any ELM327 dongle should work with a variety of free phone apps.

FORScan is a piece of software and you'll need a USB to ODB2 cable to use it. They do have paid versions for Android and iOS, but probably not worth it just to clear codes.

Autel Maxiscan MS309. $14 on Ebay new. It’s the best general use OBDII code scanner/eraser.

I have an Actron scanner and they do not work.

Tried this top rated one and it does NOT work:

https://www.x431tool.com/wholesale/launch-crp129e-auto-scanner.html

This is the response I received from them: "2022 models currently do not support" What a joke!

Therefore, I am looking for folks that have actually used their scanner with the 2022 Ford Maverick.

Thanks to all for the great info !

I have something similar from amazon, was like $15. Different brand and housing but the screen looks identical. All it does is read and clear codes, as well as give readouts from certain sensors.

Very simple and basic but it will read and clear codes for you.

Look at Innova 5410, can’t say for sure but it reads my MB Sprinter so should read a Maverick. I will check when my truck arrives. I have also found the icarsoft units are decent.

Even scanners that don't support the Maverick should still have a vehicle agnostic mode where they can read the standard OBDII codes and sensor information. It's an automotive diagnostic standard for a reason.

Nope! please scroll up a few and look at my last post. Tried 2 different scanners including an expensive 2022 model and it would not work, the company confirmed this.

So for its looking like Forscan is the way to go.

If you have actually tried a scanner on a Maverick, please let us know........................

At least for the standardized DTC codes you can get them directly from the instrument cluster without an OBD2 reader. You need to hold in the okay button on the right steering wheel switch when you start the vehicle and keep it held until the cluster goes in test mode. You'll see ET in green on the cluster once it does. You also have to have the drivers side door shut too or else it won't work. From there you can go through the menu and find the option to list any triggered DTC codes.

I have an INNOVA 5410 scanner and so far they don't support it or any 2022 vehicles but it should be able to get the non specific Ford module codes on a 2.0L ecoboost engine if you set the vehicle for a similar truck like an Escape. I haven't tested it yet but will do so later post back on it.
