5 year old daughter and no tailgate assist. As a parent, I can't possibly protect all doors. I'd rather teach her then directly protect one tailgate. Stand to the side of all doors, gates and tailgates. Especially in public bathrooms. Especially Dad's tailgate. Worst case, I'll call it lesson learned but it hasn't been an issue.
I agree a lot of people have been searching for this and I think Cuban redneck did a video on a DIY for this but I have not seen it commercially available.
I just bought one and Ill do a review and hopefully install video when I get it, Im excited for it to come in.
It's not about the kids it's about the ease of carrying something in one hand and being able to lift the handle step back and watch the awesomeness LOL. I am older now and like the extra luxuries in life. ( I grew up Lobster fishing and pulling lobster traps from morning to dusk so what I grew up doing has nothing to do with what I do now.)

I don’t think so. I notice more wind on my tonneau with it, but my numbers are unchanged. My normal drive to work this morning was legit.

I've never heard it rattle? The one I have isn't metal, so maybe that makes a difference.
