When I get my maverick, I plan on installing under bed rail lights to the 12 volt power in the bed. I know that the truck will shut power off after it has been turned off for a while, but my question is, will remote starting the truck return power to those plugs? I will be installing my lights with a Key fob RF switch like this

So that A, I don’t have a switch in the bed (I am getting an XL, so now storage cubby) and B, so I can turn it on as I approach at night if I so desire. The fact that the power does not stay on defeats the purpose of B a bit, and was wondering if there is a workaround. I do not want to run power from the battery and I like that the power eventually turns off.
On a separate note, does the 7 pin harness on the 4K tow package have always on power?
Thanks to anyone that has an opinion and I hope this isn’t a thread that has been posted numerous times before and I just couldn’t find it.

This may or may not help: I used left side 12V to power my trailer light module (Mav specific, do not use generic) and right side 12V to power a 12V compressor type 48L refrigerator. Power for BOTH shuts off with motor. A small battery would give you what you want - UPS type from Amazon, sealed with a $12 solar charge controller. (Under the rear seat, or get another bed bin for the left side and put it there.) Hopefully someone who has done this will chime in.

That is a really good idea. I did not even think about that. I will be getting the xl, so I won’t get a cubby at all, but I am sure that I can rig something up behind the panel (or spend a ton on a cubby)
So am I understanding right? Hook the battery up to the battery port on the solar charger, hook the bed power up as the “solar panel” and it will charge that battery while the truck is running and you always have power in the bed and don’t have to worry about the battery going dead.
As far as I have seen, charge controllers have usb ports (usually) so I have USB ports for the bed without buying something else.
Thanks for your input!

I'm looking into "mini UPS" 12v ones - they are used for routers it seems. I think that would be a perfect solution to providing battery power to our bed lights to get around the power timeout (that annoyingly won't come back on with lock/unlock from the fob, as I just learned).
Bad thing -most of these get poor reviews. All I really need is one that uses 1 or 2 18650 batteries. Nothing huge or complex. Going to cost more than the Nilight bed light kit, though. Also lame.
Wish I just went with battery light strip - didn't realize the 12v pigtails hard cut out like this.

I don't know if something like this would simply work, or if a controller is required...

So something like this could be better, once spliced in? https://www.amazon.com/Konnected-Backup-Battery-Mini-UPS-7800mAh/dp/B08JTVY87T

Finally, there's:

Maybe I'll try it if I get annoyed enough after the next camping trip and having newly installed LED lights that won't have power after the truck has been off for 15mins.

Lots of good information!
3x 18650 batteries would be 11.1 volts (ish) so it would run the lights, is there a way to charge them without blowing them up is the question.
Thanks for the info! I will be looking into this before I get my Mav. I want to have everything ready to go when it is.

If I knew this issue (15 min power off) ahead of time, I would have skipped the LED light strips and just thew on one or two of the rechargeable magnetic work lights

Now, I'm kinda invested - maybe I'll try a UPS setup and see if it works...

I want to do something like this, no switches in the bed, I can turn it in and off from a distance. I like the idea of adding the battery so I can use it whenever. I want to be able to turn on the lights from a distance or when camping without having to be at the tailgate. I also like the idea of having nothing in the bed to roll around or have to worry about storage. I have a couple ideas, just have to figure them out. One is a rechargeable 12volt security camera battery. I just need to make sure the voltage doesn’t go backwards on the charge port.
