I am planning on putting a ladder rack on the bed of my XLT. I am also thinking about using a single roof bar, above the front door for added support of a canoe. Is anyone using both?

I did that for a while but used a vertical hitch extender for the rear. Kayak (14') fit and rode fine. It was, however difficult to load. Now I use the Elevate system with Malone saddles. Easy load and good ride. Need a bow line for safety at highway speeds.

I have carried a 14’ WW canoe with out the roof bar. With it upside down the nose is a couple inches off the roof.

What brand of rack is that? It looks to be fairly adjustable.

Yea I want to know too. What brand bed rack is that? Where did you get it. Any idea if a hard tonneau cover can be used with it too?

I have an Angry Elephant bed rack (Same as pictured above) on Truxedo Elevate Rails with Truxedo X15 tonneau. I use a single removable Yakima cab crossbar for my 17' canoe. Sorry no pictures. I like it better than a hitch mounted extender because it is more compact and secure going through tight trails.

I had to buy 2 Yakima Crossbars and would be willing to part with one if interested. Send a DM. I visit down to SE PA from Maine a couple times a year.

Oh wow that is as expensive as the other brands like ELEVATE RACK SYSTEM about a grand,. I was hoping to find a cheaper version. Guess not,. I see those on ebay and amazon but have no clue if they could even work that sell in the 200 dollar range., At that kind of cost plus hard cover might as well get a cap at those prices. Oh well thanks for the info.

You get what you pay for. This solution is completely removable and causes no damage to the vehicle. It is very heavy duty. I would never put anything of value on a $200 bed rack. I do not understand the appeal of a hard tonneau cover personally. They are just as insecure as any other cover. It takes 5 seconds to break into one. And caps limit the size of items you can carry in the bed, not to mention being ugly in my opinion. I wish you luck with whatever it is you want to do. My response was for the OP asking specific questions.
