I finally did it but it seemed too floppy and subject to movement w road vibration so I added holes every 2" and drop a bolt in.

hmm that crossbar with bracket would work in my setup could just attach it to the lower 2x4 for low stuff, or the upper one for taller items. might not be totally snug if the items are at one of the spacers, but i'd rather have items only slide a few inches than across the whole bed. thanks for the idea!

I've been using a piece of 2x6 in the bed Divider slot. I find it really useful for groceries and bags full of stuff, but found that they would still slide left and right if not tied down. So I just built this little adjustable piece to keep things from sliding. Just 2x6 and an angle bracket, sprayed with black Plastidip. When not in use, I just keep it pushed against one side of the bed.
