Could be worse. Other trucks have no cubbies at all. How large would you like it to be? A reciprocating saw or an acetylene torch can fix your problem.
Probably reciprocating saw, too much heat to have the torch next to a fuel tank with holes in it.

What Scotch and where are you parking :giggle:
This man gets it. But you should never drink and drive. You might hit a bump and spill your drink!

Someone mentioned that if you have a model with only one cubby (like XLT) you can buy the other cubby and it fits perfectly in the existing other space.

Does anyone know if that is right?

It is.
I have an XL (no cubbies) and bought the Right side cubby. However out of curiosity I installed it on the left. Fit fine and I left it there. Went back and ordered another to actually install on the right.
If you ask the Ford dealer they will tell you it’s a different cubby for the left and that it isn’t available yet. But…

Make sure you order a package of bolts too. The block off plate uses 4 bolts and covers over 2 additional holes that are used with the cubby.

Thanks a lot. I'll probably do the same (just on the left since I'm getting an XLT).

Can you post a picture of the cubby in place on the left side?

Did I read or see a video where the false bottom comes out and you can place something longer inside? I could be confusing one situation with another, but it might be worth a look . . . or even better, check the manual.

I’m sure I saved the invoice but I did get the p/n on this forum, so click the search and you should be able to find it pretty easy. First one came in right away but it’s been over a month and the second one is still on back order so you’ll probably have to wait.

Thanks. That looks like it fits perfectly.

I'll probably order one when my hybrid gets here. Depends on what the cost is for the cubby insert itself (the plastic bin that fits inside the body) and the cover/door plate.

I was thinking about putting the hitch ball back there, wrapped in shop rags of course.

Silver lining? The bed cubby is attached to a BED. Anyway, great spot for my tie-down straps I figure

The bin comes complete with a door. The only thing extra you need is 2 more bolts and they come 4 to a bag. If memory serves me the whole project was less than $50
