Battery warranty 2024 hybrid

Hi. I have the much talked about Deep Sleep Mode with parasitic battery drain. Just dropped it off at the dealer for a check and recall tailgate electronic update thing that might be involved.

Anyway, the dude is telling me he has to check and see if the factory 12V replacement battery would be covered by the standard warranty. 2024 hybrid , 2 years old with 14K miles. It’s clearly says it is on the internet. Am I wrong? Would appreciate some advice today.

Dealerships have warranty reps that report to Ford corporate based on what the tech tells the rep, Ford then decides if it will be covered by warranty or not.

They will test it to see if it needs replacing, and if you haven't done mods which affected its life and they decide it is shot, I would think it would be covered under warranty.

If you haven't informed yourself on the 12 volt battery drain and what can be done to help yourself when you get the new battery...here is some...ahem...light reading here on MTC to catch you up and help you out.

If you get a new battery, ensure they fully charged it (not a quick surface charge), and followed the manuals directions on how to reset the truck so it knows it has a new battery and figures out the appropriate charge parameters.

And then turn on your headlights or parking lights when ever driving (yes, even in the daytime).

Oh, this info and thread started my Mavster Mechanic will not help if you are suffering from an occasional sudden overnight battery drain issue.

That needs dealer investigation and work, as well as module updates to resolve...such as the air conditioning module being one of the updates.

I have had a couple sleep mode events. But only when the truck was not driven for over a week. Now I have noticed that the accessory plug shuts off almost immediately after the the truck is shut down and door is opened. I have a dash cam powered from there. I use to have a problem with it staying on for 20 minutes or so. I guess there might of been a software change. Anyway no parasitic draw from the accessory 's any more.

I left a post a few days ago, saying it's time to buy a H4 AGM battery from Amazon for $110, this will fix all the problems with sleep mode. I replaced my flood battery, about 6 months ago (for $129), and my truck has never gone into sleep mode since.

My dealer tested the factory battery on my 2024 hybrid Lariat, found it had a “bad cell” and replaced it with a Ford AGM battery at no charge.

It took me 3 years to get ford to change out my battery on my 2023 hybrid. It used to be in deep-sleep constantly. Now it hasn't gone in deep-sleep once since the agm change.

The battery needs to be 50% damaged for replacement under the 3/36 bumper-to-bumper warranty. That's also the point where you get the deep sleep messages, so there should be no argument. You might need a more competent dealer.
