I've tried searching, but apparently I'm not wording the query correctly because it keeps saying nothing found. I have a 2025 XLT EcoBoost model and would like to hook up a battery tender. On my motorcycle I've always connected straight to the battery, but I'm not sure that's recommended with all the electronics and battery management systems on today's vehicle. It was be much appreciated if someone has photos showing the correct connection on the 2025 model. I'm considering the NOCO Genius 5 or 10.

Place the negative side cable from you charger on the ground connected to your fender not on the negative battery terminal itself where the battery monitor module is. And you are all set. You can leave the cables on and start your truck as you want with out affecting electrical components and with out disconnecting your charger.

Thank you. That explains a lot. Now I'm concerned the Genius 5 I ordered isn't going to provide enough juice to maintain the battery when the vehicle isn't being used often.
No concern there. My genius 1 charges/tops off my AGM just fine at a very safe for an AGM One Amp.
I’ve bulked charged AGM’s before but never with more than 4 Amps.

This battery has improved quite a bit.
24 hour resting voltage was 12.1 VDC and now after my second, ‘Top Off’
My 24 hour resting voltage is 12.52 vdc

The first bulk charge took seven hours before dropping into maintenance mode where it starts to desulfate. After that my 24 hour resting voltage VDC was 12.3
I let that go over night, about nine hours.
My next charge was on bulk for four hours and on maintenance overnight five days later, again 24 hr resting was 12.52 VDC.

With winter on my door step I’ll keep an eye on it and at the first sleep mode or the first time I find my resting battery below 12 volts again it’s gone.

It should because you are really maintaining the charge. The Technician in the video was using a high amp charger because his battery was severely discharged. I posted the video because placement of the negative charging clamp is important. I would follow the instructions given by the tech and attach it to the side so that the battery monitor can see the battery is getting a charge. If you attach to the post directly or to the ground post on the fender, the battery will charge, but the BMS won’t know it is at full charge until it learns it. And to get the BMS to learn the State of Charge (SOC) you must let the vehicle sit unused with the door locked for at least 8 hours.

The emphasized part of your post is incorrect. He says over and over that you have to be "on the other side of the BMS sensor," which of course is true. When it comes to attaching to the negative post, what he says is "you don't have to find a ground lug somewhere." That is misleading and kindof a dumb habit to propagate (see last paragraph below).

The BMS sensor can see electron flow whether you attach a negative charger cable to the engine block, a random ground lug, or other bare metal body panel. As long as it is NOT connected to the battery post inboard of the sensor, the results are the same.

He also mentioned "jump starting the vehicle with cables connected to the positive and negative terminals of the battery" which is just poor practice and possibly dangerous. No one should ever be creating arcs close to a hydrogen source. "Tech knowledge" fail right there.

The G10 will charge the battery twice as fast as the G5 up to the point that float charge is entered. Then they both will use the same charge rate. Both also adjust charge rate based on temperature. Be sure to set each to the proper type of battery that's being charged.
