Is this question even valid?

I thought that orders were locked and trim level changes could not be done now.

According to Legend, trims can be changed, as well as body types. So you can add or subtract the Lux package, or switch between XL, XLT , Lariat, or Tremor. You can also change colors and add or subtract options. The one thing you can't do currently is go from HY to EB and vice versa. And before you ask, no you cannot go from Hybrid to EB by going from XL, XLT, or Lariat to Tremor.

Again, according to Legend

Don't forget the XLT has a higher resale value when its time to trade or sell.
I think the upgrades are worth the xtra money but thats just me.

I went with the XL because I thought most of the upgrades I wanted, I could get on my own, little by little. I usually keep my vehicles for a long time so resale is not an issue. Have my eye on Bronco Outer Banks rims. Think they’d look good with white.

When rolling over to a '23, I switched from an XLT to an XL due to CC being added to the XL package. I, too, think the upgrades aren't worth $2200. It boils down to personal opinion.

Does the tailgate of the XL not lock? Or it's just not powered.

I went XLT mainly since the wife liked the rims better. XLT has things I want like the tailgate and power mirrors. Not worth 2200 the bigger play is that Ford is going to build the major of mavericks as xlts.

The XL, it seems, has become an even better value relative to the XLT for 2023. They definitely upgraded the XL seat appearance. Why did Ford make the XL better and then massively restrict its availability?

My cheap side wanted the XL since with cruise it is good enough. I hate that they heavily advertise the middle option. Just build the base great and only option hybrid and ecoboast and make it simple to built.

Manual lock. Not unlocked with the fob or the unlock buttons on the front doors.

It locks, just have to use actual key.
It’s super easy and less than $100 to add the locking tailgate motor. There a good YouTube video on it on a black xlt from a channel that uses to be called 2 scrubs and now something else. Forget new name.

I went XLT then saw that not much more with XLT over XL but then saw more xlt's being built so I stayed at XLT. If I thought I could switch to an XL and still get it I might switch to an XL, But since I have no clue I will stay with XLT.

I am happy with the XL. I got copilot 360 so I could get the adjustable mirrors, but I haven't adjusted them since the day I bought them :ROFLMAO:. However I do like the copilot 360 just for the blind spot monitors and back up warnings

I ordered the XL because I knew how to add the Cruise control but now it is standard, Ill add full leather seats with heat for less $ that the XLT and all adds for options are available after market and they don't seem to have a supply chain issue. I always order a second set of wheels so I can have snow tires for 4 months and nice aluminum wheels during the summer. I will custom paint the steelies for the snows (Blizzacks) as i have done for my past three cars. I've had 19, "company cars" and they (the company) always gave me snow tires when I whined, "I don't wanna die:"
