Co-Pilot is included in a base model XL. That is what you are getting the discount for. Those features. Not the option Co-Pilot branded features.
Some Co-Pilot type features are included in the base XL, not all, thus the $540 option. The base XL only includes pre-collision assist with automatic braking, although helps insurance cost, that is not the basis for the additional discount I received. At least for the one I ordered and drive every day. The option includes Blis branded cross traffic warning, power mirrors with blind spot warning lights, lane keeping aid, lane keeping alert, and driver alert system. It helps more to provide accurate information when stating an indicative as fact.

Regardless, the $540 Co-Pilot 360 is worth every penny.

In my opinion Ford made a mistake by offering the XL with so many features. It was also a mistake to allow the XL to be configured with so many options offered on the other models. Its already one of the cheapest vehicles you can buy of any brand and is the cheapest Ford you can buy today(ecosport is second at 20,395 base). Its also 5-7k cheaper than most other cheap base model hybrids.

I know that is a controversial take on the XL but us consumers benefit from their decisions.

I use USAA and got quotes from several of the big national insurance chains and none of them offered addtional discount for blind spot monitoring or any of the higher packages. I'd be curious to know which company you use and how much of a discount the addtional optional features contributed to your discount. Are they enough to offset the increased cost of the premium for adding the feature? I know a lot of features are not across the baord discounts and only apply to speficic coverages as well and insurance can vary greatly between states due to local laws.
I don't know what to tell you. If you read the above posts the information is included. Remember every state is different. It took some negotiation, but we've used the same insurance company for some 38 years, so they ultimately gave in some. But, they were overcharging me anyway.

Ford has made no mistakes, as XLT outsells XL. Today's customer would not accept manual locks, windows, rubber floor, manual transmission and AM radio on a base vehicle, in any class.

The truck manufacturers figured out a long time ago that Americans want stuff like "infotainment", leather seats, heated/cooled seats and other gizmos. That's why those things all live inside expensive "luxury packages" that don't even turn on as options until you've already spent thousands of dollars.

Like many others have said, $540 for CP360 is a no brainer regardless of the trim or any other options you select. Just like the 4K for $800 is a no brainer if you plan to tow even a couple of times per year.

I insure with Progressive, and they specifically asked if the vehicle has blind spot monitoring (which it does, since it has the co-pilot 360 package), when I added my Maverick to my policy. I presume they asked because it affects the rate. Now I'm curious. I'm going to call them and find out...

Edit: Progressive gives me a very generous discount of $2.03 every six months because my Maverick has blind spot monitoring. The agent I spoke with says the automatic emergency braking carries the bigger discount.

AND I imagine this belongs on another thread, but why is this so cheap?
To get a 4 door Tacoma with the same equipment for under $30K you have to buy a 2015 w/150,000 miles. And having paid over $5K for recent repairs and maintenance on my Toyota and wife's Lexus - I don't want another high mileage Toyotas! Had a '93 ranger and 99 F150 before and both started and ran everyday - that's all I really need.
The Maverick is a compact pickup (Tacoma is a midsize pickup)and is not a body on frame pickup, which comes with significant manufacturing cost savings. The Maverick is also a parts bin vehicle, aka its borrowing a significant amount of parts from the Ford Escape and Bronco Sport. All of that means is it cost less to develop, since a lot of the parts are already being made. The Maverick is also made in Mexico vs a made in USA Tacoma.

TLDR parts bin, compact pickup made in Mexico is a lot cheaper than a made in USA midsize Tacoma.

I was in the same boat, except I’m a grumpy old man and not yet retired. I was going to go that way base XL but hybrid. I opted for the XLT with Luxury package b/c I got $6k back on my mustang by selling to Carvana and find the heated seats do wonders for the back, when I go for a long drive. But I did wonder if I could have added an inverter to the back seat and find a way to plug in a heating pad.
