Despite my love for this truck, the past year has not been fun dealing with excess brake noise and wear. After 4 dealer visits, I finally got the front hub bearings replaced due to excess run-out on the hubs

Feeling happy again, I wrapped the hood last weekend...did a pretty good job for my first try. Planning to do the rest of the truck soon...

then I hit a deer this morning...so the truck will be gone for a while for repairs. Was able to drive home since the rad stayed intact. Feel bad for the deer...wish I had time to react.

Weird, I was looking at camera systems just yesterday. Seeing the video has me thinking of camera. Sad about your truck. And that deer.

Have you narrowed down the dash cam you want or any recommendation? I wonder what the one was that recorded the deer video? Now I am interested in getting one too.

Bad Luck Truck and its Bucket of Suck. My next children’s book just wrote itself!
Well, I was going to say “thats a big bag of dicks” but I didn’t want to offend anyone on the forum who’s name might be Richard.

Dash cams are really great at illustrating the fact that in so many accidents there really is essentially zero time to react. When it's your time it's your time, sort of deal. I'm glad to hear your truck isn't totaled?

I've been running several DDPAI cameras. I really like the small, discrete screenless ones. And then use your phone or a tablet to connect and view when needed. Both of the models I have are no longer made so I don't have any specific model recommendations. Mine have had built in memory so you don't have to worry about what quality SD card to purchase, but also can't upgrade or pull it out to view on a PC. They also use a large capacitor instead of a battery so there is less worry about heat and the battery.

As we approach fall, the deer will be running. I see the month of November being the worst in North Carolina. I managed a Ford collision shop and last year between October and February, our shop repaired 83 vehicles struck by deer and did not include total losses in that number.

What camera are you using? Inquiring minds want to know.

I'm on my second Maverick, but this one may have brought bad luck with it. No matter where I drive, I seem to have a headwind or, on a two-way trip, I fight a headwind going out only to have what should be a tailwind die when I'm coming back. It's nothing compared to hitting a deer, and you have my deepest sympathy, but I also sympathize with your "bad luck truck" vibes.

Glad you weren't hurt but that sucks for your truck and the deer! I once hit two deer about 20 minutes apart. At least now you could get the new hood in black if you wanted to.
I'm thinking if they havw

The dashcam is a Rove R2-4K. It has a small screen, and I have it wired into the fuse center using a pigtail connector at position 3. I've had a few dashcams over the years, and this model has lasted the longest (2.5 years so far).
I did 3D print my own mount for the windshield, since the mount it came with had too much play and made the image jittery.

BTW....the truck was a total loss after this deer collision. Collision shop estimated $24k for repairs. Luckily I was able to find a near exact replacement with my insurance settlement!
