Sorry to hear that mother nature ruined your truck. I know this is after the fact but isn't there a cover that you can put over the vehicle that would protect it from hail storms as such ? Just wondering if that would have been helpful when your not around to move the vehicle to a protected area.

I believe the OP said in his original post.
His Maverick was parked in the parking lot at Calgary airport when he was out of town.

There are padded as well as inflated hail protective covers of many brands which can be used. Search Amazon or elsewhere.

If you want to drive a beater that's fine, I'm not judging because I like crusty old junk trucks too :) Got a beastly old '91 Toyota 1 ton in the garage beside Valentina.
But personally, I bought a new truck because I like a new truck so I'd rather my $40k investment looks good for as long as it can.
What "investment"?

Unfortunately I wasn't even in the same country as my truck when the hail hit so all the covers in the world wouldn't have saved me but there are a few different styles that may help folks who do see a lot of hail storms.
My hometown doesn't get a lot of hail and I normally park in my garage so this is a pretty new experience for me.

I heard from insurance this week, they had two estimates, one at $17,000 which seems really low, and another at just a hair over $20,000.
I got a third done and it was just over $22,000.

Looks like she's not a write off but they also have no idea when they'll be able to get parts so they've told me to keep driving the truck, they'll call when things arrive.

Just another update, the truck went in for repairs on November 20th. It took about 3 months to get parts so if anyone's roof is damaged then you probably ought to expect a fairly long wait time.

They called me on Friday to say that I should get the car back on 31 December but I won't hold my breath, repairs like this can be easily delayed.

Long drawn out process. Hope you've been provided a loaner, and most of all that you're happy with the repairs.

Aside from the rather long wait, I can't complain too much.
It helps that they didn't take the truck in until all the parts had arrived and they had a rental car waiting for me at the shop.

I am concerned about the repairs since it's a full roof replacement, as soon as spring comes I'll be spending some time with a garden hose checking for any water leaks around the seams and windows. I expect that it'll be ok but with such an invasive process there's plenty of potential for trouble.
