Backrack installed..terrible!

Well..Backrack Headache rack installed.
Directions are terrible and I’ve installed backracks on other vehicles that went great before.

Unlike advertised, this is 100% drill mandatory (through plastic bed rail protectors).

It was a PITA and I did the best I could. No other way to mount as far as I could tell (read directions thoroughly).

It is very solid but looks sloppy and terrible up close!

Yeah I would have had to do some modification to that setup. Maybe even take the bedrail off to sort out a better footprint underneath it?

I made a video (I’ll post when done)…I took off the bedrail..parts were include that did not fit..really nor happy with the look.

If it had been me, I would have sent the Back Rack BACK.

Paint brackets and nuts black. Cut off excess height of bolts. Remove logo. Level mounting hardware. It will look better.

Bed/Head racks tend to have two purposes. One, to prevent items in the bed from crashing into the back window and breaking it. Two, as a place to mount tools vertically, or to lean longer items on.

OP, I don’t believe the black mounting brackets are positioned correctly. It looks to me that the brackets should be flipped around and the tabs with the captive nuts go behind the side bed rails and clamp on like a hard cover does.. the bolts aren’t installed vertically, they are installed horizontally from inside the bed pointing out to the side.

Their site states it’s a “no drill” installation kit. I believe the tabs go behind the bed rails and clamp on....they are referred to as “ clamp plates” in the instructions...

??
