Maybe a camera should be installed. One with a blaring alarm.

Thanks for the replies. Yep as mentioned he is a craftsman and did this project for himself with no intention on reproducing these so he went all out with over the top materials......professional welding.......high end fasteners....etc. Just the metal stock alone and fasteners would be very expensive not too mention the 100 hours labor hand making another one. Again this was not cut from a computer program.....it was all done by hand. I have asked him if he would consider making a back rack for me.

Nice rack.

I work for a midwest manufacturer that is capable of building them and would probably be able to work with the guy to do that.

Thanks for the replies.......... to be clear.......I just saw the truck in the parking lot and struck up a conversation with the guy. Turns out he is a super nice guy and quite the skilled craftsman. I asked him if I could share it with the forum and he said no problem. Since I have posted this I have gone on line to look at several of the mass produced China stuff and with my poor man budget thats probably what I would have to get. But as I said in my post.....if someone wanted to hire this guy to make another one he could do it.....but thats only for people that like really nice things and have lots of money to burn. Generally the Maverick owner is not that client. Now as far as the Maverick being a $20k truck??? That was a very fast moving pipe dream......I think you can get out of the dealership for $30k w steelies and a XL but for the high rollers in the Lariats I think those are over $40K arent they? He also made a custom phone holder with blue accents to match his interior trim.......this is made from wood!

did anyone notice that the OEM tie-down was drilled into the rack roughly where it would have been installed at the factory location? another nice touch on this nice build

Yes.....that is one of the things that I really liked.....he did in fact use the tie down locations for the attachment points. Think of how easy it would be to remove it when not needed

Hello all. I met a guy in the Home Depot parking lot today that has hand fabricated the most awesome bed rack that I have ever seen. I believe he said it is made from 1/2" aluminum but dont quote me on that. He hand made and drilled everything. His buddy did the welding. It is mounted via the oem tie down screw locations. This thing does not wiggle or budge at all....I could shake the truck back and forth with it. He was telling me that the 1/2" stock was overkill but was making it for himself so he went for it. I told him he should offer them to the forum. I made him aware of this forum and hopefully he will sign up. He said it would be very expensive if someone wanted to order one and have it shipped. Dont quote my on pricing or tell me how much a Amazon version would cost......but I believe he was talking around $4k shipped. He has never marketed them. Now I hvent even searched and I am sure Amazon has one for like $20 bucks. This is just for the person that has a bunch of money and wants a hand made in the USA super rack!!!!!! I will include some picks of it. It really blew my mind!!!
