That is a nice rack!

I work in fabrication and yeah, even at wholesale/bulk pricing a sheet of 1/2 aluminum is probably $1700 CAD, some brackets, tube, bolts and so on will easily add another couple hundred to push it up to around $2000 for material.
Then laser cutting aluminum is slow, I'd say $900-1100 at a glance.
Some welding will add another few hundred and bam, it's shipping time. You'll need to palletize it so $300+, maybe +++ depending where it's going.
Yeah, she's a nice rack but out of reach for the average Joe but the guy's estimate of $4k isn't out to lunch if he wants some beer money at the end of it all.

Now if you were to make it from say 1/4" carbon steel, you could probably do something like that for under $1000

Ya he mentioned that he could make it out of a lighter stock but man o man that 1/2" stock was so stout thats what made it for me.

That isn't overkill, that's super ultra God-tier overkill. You could probably crush the Maverick before putting a dent in it

In my younger, bashful years I walked past a co-workers car on the way into work. I had a similar one and liked one of the accessories they had added. I saw them shortly after walking in the building and blurted out "Where did you get your bra"....before realizing how that sounded. She of course said "Excuse me?". I immediately turned red and said "OH!, the one on your car!". I'm glad she was really cool about it.

Spoke with the creator of this here rack yesterday.....and for the person that asked about how he did it all by hand.....keep in mind he is a master carpenter so he knows how to work with materials. He used a plunge router to do the Maverick logo.......he used the Maverick letters from the tailgate and resized to his liking.......then routed it and buzzed it clean.

I am also a master carpenter. It takes having access to all the available tools and equipment more than anything else to make this. Great job!

If he's like me, he probably had some scrap laying about and used what he had. I bet if he were to buy new material, it would have been closer to 1/4".

That is sweet! I would be interested in just getting the mounting brackets to then build some side boards to increase bed cubic feet.
