I wasnt aware of the powertrain. May have passed my mind. The other closest ford is over an hour drive......and its the same owners haha. and get this MY WIFE WORKS AT THE ONE I HAVE BEEN GOING TO. the whole having to bite my tongue and not cause a scene because i dont want to embarass her has my blood boiling. Having her in the middle of this down right pisses me off. Any they are all to scared to tell me they fucked up and have her do so every time.
sometimes we do see horrible stories here on MTC, but I can't recall a situation like yours.

I would like to think there's some other explanation for their behavior but my belief at this time is that they knew exactly what they were doing when they quoted you some extended warranty for $200/month that you don't even need to get this repair done. If they will do that to their own employee, what are they doing to other customers?

Here's what I would do. I would get the truck repaired. Meet with the service manager and GM. Get Ford involved if they won't agree to a specific scheduled time to talk to you.

After it's repaired, sell it. Check Vroom, Carmax, Carvana and maybe even list it on FB Marketplace (it's annoying as hell trying to sell a vehicle there). Buy something else that isn't from that cesspool of a dealership. DO NOT threaten them with selling/trading the vehicle. Make them repair it, then quietly go your own way.

I'll by that guy- good luck with anything you buy, it's not the Manufacturer or even the dealer- it boils down to the tech. There's good and bad everywhere.
There were techs I worked with that I wouldn't let near my kids bicycle and others I'd trust no questions asked.
I had the luxury of living in Germany for two years back in the 80s - military stationed overseas. One reward was that they have such an amazing trades workforce - courtesy of a strong trades educational and apprenticeship tradition - and a strong cultural respect for trades. I would take my Honda in for service, and when it came back I knew he had done every single step on the checklist. Because the brakes felt tighter, etc. You could feel it in the car the instant you drove away. Here in the USA, I am grateful if they actually change the oil instead of pencil whip it. I don't blame the kids working in the shops - I blame us for looking down on trades workers as a nation. We get exactly what we deserve.

That's an excuse. I've dealt with that, some of my wife's co-workers looked down on me because I was a Tech. Didn't mean I did a 1/2 assed job. It's the person, if they're a 1/2 asser as a trades person, they'd be a 1/2 asser in any other field they went into.

Now, what might encourage the 1/2 asser mind set is the flat rate pay system.

This. The manufacturer pays like garbage. This leads to what I've been driving around with for 10 months: an airbag recall that left my vehicle less safe than before. That metal plate is supposed to be attached to the A pillar. It was found dangling around. In a best case scenario, it punctures the bags. In a worst case scenario, it goes through me and my front passenger.

28k miles roughly and for the last few months I kept getting an AWD fault message service soon. Have had them look at it and the code was simply cleared and nothing done from there. Fast forward a month and It went nuts wouldn't stop going off and I can feel loss of power instantly. Drop it back off on way to work and the rear differential is needing replaced. Now I'm in a pickle, while it is covered under warranty that warranty expires at 35k miles. To renew said warranty it will bump my monthly payment to almost 650 a month. I don't have faith that something bad like this wont happen again in the near future. It has had a smell of burning rubber since I got it and can never get a fix or resolution from Ford. I know I can trade it in break even if not a little more towards trade on something else for far less than 650 a month with a whole new warranty. Totally sucks but the service I have received from the initial purchase, mechanics countless times destroying parts of my vehicle on almost every visit has left a seriously bad taste in my mouth to want to continue with Ford. Have had nasty grease marks all over the white interior, pieces broken on both sides during airbag recall fix. Even my rims destroyed when getting my first set of tires replaced. Being told have nothing wrong with my truck when the smell is so bad at times I have to roll windows down to drive. As much as I loved this truck I am starting to look at trade in offers with other dealers.
Hi there! Would you send us a private message with your VIN and dealership name and location? I’d like to look into this concern on my end.

Big shout out to the Ford representative that is on here that asked me to reach out. And even a bigger shout out to Allencia S. who works with Ford and has been emailing me back and forth since I posted this. They have listened to my complaints and responded accordingly. Most of which were directly towards the dealership and not as much the truck itself. They have also made things right in my eyes and have restored my faith in Ford customer service. Thank you again for your assistance and generosity. I now have peace of mind that if anything happens for as long as I own this truck that it wont cost me an arm and a leg and that I can continue to own my maverick for the life of my loan and hopefully pass this on to my children which was always my plan.

A lot of dealerships are really bad about removing and reinstalling plastic bits, not just Ford. Same problem with removing and reinstalling panels like the under engine panel. How many dealerships actually remove and reinstall all the 15 bolts on that panel when doing an oil change on a Maverick? We as consumers need to hold the dealer accountable by having them order and replace parts that they damage.

A friend of mine with a Toyota Tundra got a couple free oil changes included when he bought it. At the first oil change, his dealer stripped a bunch of the bolts holding on the under engine panel and put in a used cabin filter. He is a DIYer and checked their work. So yeah, this stuff happens in all dealerships at all vehicle price points.

The other challenge is lift points. Many shops, including the dealership, do not use the proper lift points. The Maverick has its lift points on the pinch welds at reinforced areas. On some other vehicles, I have painted the lift points with Hi Viz yellow so there is no misunderstanding where the lift goes. I may do the same on the inside edge of the Maverick lift points.

As another forum member pointed out, some other countries more strongly support trades. The US is not one of them, and we see it in poor quality workmanship in areas like this. Take care and best wishes to you!

I'm glad to hear that, but are you concerned about your wife working there after you've made an official complaint about this?

They all know there are problems with their service dept. There is a huge divide between their service dept and sales department. I work in the hotel world and I know our corp offices have training programs for our staff. Hopefully Ford has something similar and can offer something for them there. There are a few ppl who desperately need to be let go but someone, no names, needs to grow a pair and start cutting ties. Apparently I am one of MANY who have been fed up with service there over the last few years.

There are bad dealerships. The smart ones make sure their customers are taken care of, but they aren't all smart. One problem is that dealers are independent by law in many states so, Ford has limited control.

I would respond to the ford rep posting above and see how it goes. The best you can hope for is that having ford corporate's thumb on the scale will tilt things in your favor.

Can't hurt.

I bought my Mav January 2022 and also have the AWD fault, service soon. So it's been at the dealer for 2
days and they said they have to replace the rear differential. I have 40,600 kms on it and they said its under warranty. I havent noticed anything different while driving but it seems kind of soon for this to happen.

Yeah, more parts generally mean more issues. I thought about keeping the AWD but the savings means I just stay home on snow days. I did get some Steelies and put ❄ snows on them so that should be plenty for the Illinois/ Wisconsin winter.
