Hello all!
Wanted to give an honest review of the AVS Bugflector II I just installed on my Mav. I’ve seen some reviews both here and on YT and figured I’d chime in also. First, the install was a breeze, maybe 5 minutes. That said, there were no instructions installed and the QR code was useless. But I’m not totally inept and somewhat mechanically inclined. I would recommend holding the bug flector in place before removing any of the seal clips. I had a slight panic attack when I just dove in thinking I removed one incorrectly. Turns out I didn’t but after a mock up, the other 3 were easily identified. You can expect to destroy the OE clips when removing them. I assume replacements are available should I remove the shield layer down the road. Now I have noticed there seems to be a first generation and appears a second of the shields. I say that because some videos show the end cuts being slotted. All 4 of mine were circular. They all lined up perfectly to the hood. All 3 went in relatively easily with a Phillips head. The fourth took some coaxing but it went in once it caught traction. I’ve seen some that took double sided tape to secure the seal once they installed. I’m going to hold off on that for now as I don’t believe it is needed because the stripping doesn’t dangle down. I installed the bump stops on the shield because I don’t care to put tape onto my paint. Use your best judgement but mine were on the ends and then lined up to the hood lines. No issues with rubbing anywhere. Hood opened and closed as normal. No Dremel necessary. Hopefully it will keep some of the bugs off the glass as they have in my past vehicles.
