After waiting 4 months, I finally got my new AVS Bug Deflector II. I ordered it from DFW Truck & Auto Accessories and the Sales guy found three of them at one of their affiliates in Arkansas and had it brought in to DFW the next day (yesterday). I picked it up to date and the installation was easy-peasey. I really like the look as it sits off the paint and secures with supplied push pins. To make way for the new fasteners (4 of them), 4 of the factory rubber seal Retainer clips needed to be removed and discarded with a simple plastic pry tool.

Easy instructions downloaded from their website. Took about an hour, not bad given my lighting was poor. I like this style because it doesn’t use adhesive tape on the paint. (I have had the car ceramic coated). Price was good at $69.99, plus tax, (no delivery fee, but I picked up from their store).

I have a similar one on my 1997 Tahoe, which I have had for 27 years with zero wind shield breakages, so I am hoping for a similar performance on my Maverick.

27 years! Holy Smokes! I bough the same one. I had a little bit of an issue with the holes lining up and I also ended up buying some push in pins that were longer.

If they ever remold the center two mounting holes the AVS Bug Deflector II would be perfect. They look great, add some coverage to the upper fender, and shouldn't hurt the aerodynamics...not that we have a great cd to begin with. - I just drilled two new holes in the deflector to make it fit.

Seems to help with bugs on the windshield, probably no too much with stones of any mass. The one that did hit my windshield in February thankfully didn't crack it, and it was huge, startling both my wife and I both coming down the highway from Lancaster PA.

I think they did retool. This is a new production run. The four retainers worked fine and aligned perfectly with the holes in the hood.

If they actually fixed it so the holes line up, I may finally buy one. 😬
