Auto-stop eliminator?

Smart@$$, Be nice! Some of us come here for honest opinions and answers before we spend our money. I thought a forum was to ask questions from like minded people?

As much as we love our Maverick and want to doll it up a bit, it’s still some of our only means of transportation, and some of these customizations ain’t cheap! It would be nice to know if some of these customizations are the right ones, before those of us who haven’t made them yet make the wrong choices with our money. Some of us live on a fixed income, yet still have memories of what a real car was. We remember muscle cars! And probably learned to drive without power steering and unleaded gas! Even if they aren’t parked in the garage anymore.

I am 100% positive the post you quoted was meant in good spirits, like "What are you waiting for, the water's fine, go ahead and jump in!" If you consider that eager sense of humor being a "smartass," get ready for a lot more of that, because it's common around here.

And if, after all of the threads and responses already around the forum, you are still on the fence: YES, the auto-stop eliminator is effective, and an easy install - and for most, it is an ok value if not having the engine cycle on/off is important. If $100 is not an ok value to you, then live with pushing the button in your truck every time you start it up.

There are cheaper ways to do it (via Forscan), but the Venn diagram intersection of "people who drove cars with leaded gas" and "people who want to hook a laptop up to their truck and do programming" is probably pretty small.

I have the exact one on my 2023 XLT and love it. No more starting and stopping when I hit a stop sign/light.

Agree 100%. When these things came out I thought it would be a passing fancy. I personally found it infuriating the first time I had to experience it. You either love it or hate it, I guess. Since then I have reversed the logic on them (Autostop Eliminator) for three different vehicles. On gasoline models I doubt there's any real savings on efficiency. (And us older mechanics have been ingrained with abhorring the starting and stopping of a gasoline engine like these do). Anyway, I'll be ordering the Eliminator for the truck coming in next month. It's really hard for me to imagine these don't create wear and tear on starters.

Think that's BS because the engine uses more gas at start up than any other time. Plus I don't like it cycling on and off, will things be effected differently and wear oy quicker?

If you want to challenge the results of the SAE's study, you are free to.

Understand, but when I was in the SAE Mechanic Certification program that's what we were told but does it really matter? It's a matter of your choice

My experience installing Auto-stop Eliminator in three other vehicles is that it won't void any warranties (you can turn the button "on" if you are worried about the vehicle going in for service) and it's an easy install. It simply reverses the logic so that when you turn the vehicle off with the A switch off, it starts with it off. If you run with the A on, then when you start the vehicle it will be on. Satisfies everyone for $100 and a few minutes of your time. My opinion is that the Auto Stop Eliminator is the highest quality one you can get. Nothing wrong at all with the Forscan, but I will still just put in the Eliminator when the truck gets here.

I can't imagine any of you having to drive a standard if you can't learn how to press one little button when you start the car.
I guess it's a good thing they're developing cars you don't have to drive.

All the power to you. Each of us reacts differently. I love stick shift, for example, but having to press extra buttons to stop a vehicle from doing extra things annoys me. Each to their own.

I guess it's a good thing they're developing cars you don't have to drive.

Funny, but it's not just "one little button." It's that one, AND the seat belt acknowledgment, AND the drive mode (if you want other than "normal"), AND cruise control (if you use that often, like I do)... At some point it's like you are doing a pre-flight checklist. When I get around to firing up Forscan, I will knock as many of those out as I can, but for now, the ASE is a painless (if costly) solution.

I for one, love driving manual transmissions, and my first new car was intentionally a stick. If pushing buttons in a Maverick was anywhere near as enjoyable as heel-and-toeing, I might not care so much.

I bought the same cable from Aliexpress recently. Works great and remembers if you had it on or off when you shut off the truck. So I would expect you would have a similar experiance.

I'm waiting for my 2025 Maverick and I emailed Jessica at Autostop Eliminator to see when they would have one for the 2025 truck. I don't know if they are different for the new year or not. yup, love it. This simply remembers your last setting so it doesn't change your computer like some recommend with Forscan.
