I agree low turns blending off.
Which is the #1 reason mine is almost always set to low in summer.

Back to my original post: I control inside temperature with fan speed. I only blend if fan speed 1 is too much cold.

It appears that the dew point is quite frequently Reached in Wisconsin. In mid summer driving past a cornfield at 72°F the humidistat can turn AC on to prevent fogging. Etc.....
Yea, I live in Wisconsin. This state is swampy the everglades in summer. I don't know what they're talking about, lol.

One thing I really appreciate is the HURRICANE setting (Max A/C). Once it cranks up, it brings the temp down fast!

Op,
Go see your dealer and tell them to show you how to work it.
The owners manual may need a rewrite.

In winter is that the torpedo heater setting?
I'm in Texas so I don't get past the electric seat heaters and steering heater much. Plus being retired I tend to hibernate at 26°F, however at least the hybrid has a ceramic booster heater (40 or 60 amp fuze) to help in the max heat high temp mode. Best to preheat for a few minutes below freezing to let the truck warm the HVB so it can preheat the HVB and be able to activate charge/discharge in reasonable rates. With the seat & wheel heaters active I don't generally mess with any heat if ambient is above 35°F.😇

Here in Birmingham AL, temps down into the teens are rare, but occasionally we have a freezing rain that leaves vehicles coated in ice and doors frozen shut. For this reason, remote start was on my list, to hopefully warm the truck enough to melt the ice so I can open the door.

Last winter was the first since 1977 I didn't have to get out earlier and deal with frosted or frozen windows and cold in the mornings. It is nice to look at the temperature and say Nope staying in
I wondered how the hybrid heat worked when the ICE was off. Thanks for that info.
It will primarily use the ice coolant to obtain heat for cabin. It will cycle ice on when the coolant temp drops (if memory serves correctly) below 190°F if not for a different reason. The ceramic heater will increase the cycling frequency of the ice due to keeping the HVB between 30% and 40%.

Yesterday, it was a cool morning....58 degrees out, with my temp set at 60 degrees...got in and started the truck...the A/C did NOT automatically come on.

FYI.

Actually requires the following - some speeds where the generator motor is spinning such for gearing and not recharge may not allow it:

Electric booster heater operating parameters:
Engine is running
HVAC controls have been switched to the highest temperature setting
Engine coolant temperature is below approximately 75°C (167°F)
Ambient air temperature is below approximately 12°C (53.6°F)
Sufficient generator capacity is available

The electric booster heater is deactivated when an engine coolant temperature of approximately 85°C (185°F) or an ambient air temperature of approximately 15°C (59°F) is exceeded.

Component Description
Electric Booster Heater
The electric booster heater, also known as the PTC heater, is made up of three separate ceramic resistor elements.

Super fast even in 100 plus high humidity conditions. And even on the normal setting, it brings the temperature down as fast as most cars on their Max setting.
Hello I’ve been concerned because my Maverick puts auto AC on in 60 degree weather… I tried to figure this out when I realized that and couldn’t find anything in the manual like people said and my FordPass app looks different than what online says and how to turn auto AC off…

it was 53 this morning and my truck automatically turned AC on… I know I know I know it’s for defogging…. But it’s COLD why does nobody understand why AC when it’s cold just DOESNT MAKE SENSE.

please please please help me I don’t know what I’m going to do when my car is turning AC on when it’s 10 degrees or below.

please help!
The compressor will not run if the ambient temperature is below a certain level. It doesn't matter what the light on the dash says. If it's below a predetermined level the compressor will NOT engage. It's NOT something to be concerned about, Just drive. Let the truck do what it's designed to do. In the unlikely event that the compressor does engage, still no reason for concern because the compressor is a variable displacement. So even if it's running at a low temperature, it's not pumping anything.
