I was told similar by someone whom I told i orderd this pickup. "well if you want to do work with a truck you should get a powerstroke, anything less is just pointless". yea thanks mr rockefeller and napoleon complex. I dont need a super large truck.
I think the full-size pickup is just a default answer to many folks' mind when it comes to wanting/needing a truck.

Sure there are plenty out there that work their big trucks and get the value and capability they need, but there are just as many that don't tow or haul anything more than sailboat fuel.

none of them ride well or get decent gas mileage so I sell them and end up buying another one looking for the perfect "one" to fit my needs at the time.

I'm hoping the Maverick is that perfect combination of comfort/gas mileage/utility that has always eluded me in the past.
Same here. I've had everything from a CCLB F-250 to a regular cab Nissan hardbody pickup. They all have their strengths and weaknesses. I'm hoping the Maverick will be the perfect meld.

I wanted one because I am getting the hybrid which is better gas mileage than my car. Plus I have a bunch of junk I want to get rid of that would be so much easier to haul in the back of a truck then in the back of my car.

Will it still be considered over-hyped when it sells 100K+ units in its first 12-month production run? Just curious.

Jalopnik is snarky, car nerd entertainment. They don't pretend to be fair and balanced reference material.

:p

Yes, but Jalopnik is the one who asked the question (And curated the responses). If I asked a group why vaccines are bad and just published the responses without commenting or analysis, you'd probably be able to derive an accurate representation of my intent anyway.

Still trying to figure out how over-rated a vehicle no one owns yet is.
I own an XLT Maverick and it is not overrated. It’s perfectly suited for what it’s designed to do. If anybody had cared to pay attention, the Maverick was designed as an urban Sport Utility Truck for the odd jobs that regular vehicles aren’t suited for. It’s economical, and fun to drive (2.0L)! What’s not to like?

I agree. I have a SUV and didn’t want a second one. I sure don’t need a full size truck any longer. Maverick fit the bill perfectly.

We have a Toyota C-HR (2018) and the Maverick which replaced the ‘21 Corolla I was driving. So, very much like your situation. My wife drives the C-HR and loves it. I get the Mav. Yes, I get the FUN vehicle!!!

Yeah we have the Corolla Cross Hybrid and love it. The Maverick compliments it nicely 👍

Zero substance article with no actual reasons an owner would hate any of these vehicles. Porsche, Tacoma, Nissan Z all panned for dumb reasons along with the Maverick panned because it caters to people who actually want a maverick......Close this nonsense thread please.

At 73, I got tired having to pry myself out of the Corolla (which was a fun car to drive but too low to the ground for me). I can just get in and out of the Mav with no difficulty.

Exactly, not to mention only wealthy people can afford full size trucks these days. I saw a F-150 Raptor for $100K!!! I asked them if that came with a 30 year mortgage… The Mav was $41,500 but they gave $21,500 for my Corolla which was paid off. That made the Mav doable. If that hadn’t happened, I wouldn’t have bought the Mav.
