Question from a gasser in an Ecoboost,

Have any of you Mavbrid owners ever driven just like the gasser’s?
Like, No concern with how you drive a hybrid to get better gas mileage. Just drive it with traffic.
Over more than a single tank, what’s the hybrids in town, big city mpg’s when you do what most do ?
No stop light drag races but keeping up with the herd type of driving.

Whats your urban mpg when you Fagetaboutit and just go ?

I just drive mine without any care or special attention, but relatively little data so far. 36mpg first tank mostly around town, and just a touch under 30mpg on a 500 mile highway trip at 75mph+ in constant 15-20mph winds yesterday. Fuelly will tell the long term trends.

I keep up with traffic whether in the lead or in my lane.
I coast coming into red lights just like I used to for possibly timing it, but not excessive (except to people that like to race to red lights and sit and get on phone longer I guess).
I get out of the 4 way stops like normal, not babying it to stay in EV mode, usually someone waiting.
I take the highway to work when busy and home on city streets when busy, doing errands.

Sometimes, infrequently - I'll take city streets into work for indeed the increased mileage, at expense of 5 minutes. Actually lately it's been a tad more often because of highway work, so I don't think a 5 min penalty anymore, but they are almost done with work.
So not counting that last fillup with extra city miles.

Over 1 year now so all the seasons. About 10K yearly just like always.
37.0 mpg.

When I'm in a hurry, drive like a 17 yo late for school, I get pretty much exactly window sticker ratings.

Driving a bit gently, it routinely gets 5 to 10 better than window sticker (in mild weather).

I drove a 22 FX4 the last 3 years, I just got a 25 AWD lariat and confused, I drive maybe 20 miles a day all local driving, I have about 175 miles on it now, says 278 in range down from 320 when I had a full tank and have little more than half a tank now, I rarely hear the engine come on, my mpg is always about 28, the roads I drive theres a light every 75/100yards so am always gliding to next light charging the battery, not pissing off anybody they can all see the light is red or changing, should'nt I be getting MUCH better MPG than 28. I drive like a old man because I am and almost always in traffic having lights so close together its always stop and go, stop and go I though this is where the hybrid shines, am I doing something wrong?
Try driving in Slippery only for the whole week.

First off there are no shift points in the hybrid drivetrain.

Secondly, there is no learning curve for driving a hybrid. Put it in drive and go. Less throttle input will result in better mpg. Less use of HVAC and accessories drawing power will result in better efficiency.

Please don’t go around trying to hyper mile your Maverick engaging cruise at 15mph and pissing everyone else off on the road.
It’s ok if you have no one behind you. I’ll sometimes just play with it just to see how long I can drive in electric mode. BUT if there’s someone behind me, I simply drive normally . I’d never block the flow of traffic because it’s inconsiderate.
