Apple CarPlay stopped giving voice directions

It stopped giving voice directions. I only get the directions on the screen? I've looked at all the settings I can think of but doesn't work

Restart your phone.
Restart the truck's Infotainment system:
Hold down the power button and the skip forward button until the infotainment system restarts.

As a computer tech I have found that about 90% of tech problems are due to cabling. Yours might be different, but the first thing I would try is a new cable.

Had the same problem and it was indeed cabling. I quickly solved the problem by buying a wireless USB device. Cost about $50 if memory serves me correctly and no problem after that. Sure is nice to get into the truck, start it up and Apple Car Play come up with my favorite music playing in the background while looking at map. It is one of the best mods I have done.

This happened to me before, I had to tap the screen when I was viewing the map then tap the speaker icon. It turned off all the voice prompts by itself.

I have the same problem with Apple Maps after a recent iOS update. Waze still works as usual. I played with the settings in Apple Maps and got the verbal directions back for that drive, but it went right back to no verbal commands the next time. So I now just use Waze.

I had this happen to me with CarPlay/Apple maps. For me, I learned that on the truck’s touchscreen if I tapped the black box with the next direction that toggled to a different black box that was similar. One had voice prompts while the other didn’t.
