Watched the TFL episode with a teardrop camper and was just curious if anyone else has towed one or something similar and how far down MPG dips with it.

I seriously had a dream last night that I was towing a huge trailer with my hybrid. It did not go well!

Towed 1000lb trailer and all with my hybrid today. Used tow/haul setting in 23F weather. Got 24-25mpg for all the different segments I drove. My mpg in anywhere from 2F to 28F in eco without a trailer has been 29-32mpg (lots of heat seems to affect when electric driving happens thanks to experimentation with turning on and off the climate controls)

(best mpg I got was 44 mpg on one segment for about 11mi I didn't run climate control and 3 miles were electric).

In tow/haul the engine runs always except when coming to a stop and parked. No electric miles with it.

I'm going to be taking my trailer on a 40mi trip empty to get a lawn tractor and then 40mi home. So I'll see how it goes. Gonna run normal with the empty trailer and see what the handling, acceleration and mpg are. But with the tractor gonna run tow/haul. Lots more power than normal.

Also gonna have to fill up all before E because I'm heading to PA where gas is 50c more a gallon. My first tank has been a lot of cold, snowy icy roads and with a trailer.

And I've averaged 29mpg since the dealership. Even my old car was lucky to hit 28mpg with just me in it. So I'm quite thrilled with the results. Can't wait for spring and no more running heat and having to warm up the windshield to see out of in the mornings.

I towed my 5' x 8' utility trailer for the first time yesterday. I went to Lowe's and purchased 40 cedar fence pickets and 12 PT 2 x 4's. It tows very smoothly and had no problem at all. Very smooth and quiet!
