I get that, just wish i could swing by your place every weekend 🧐
Me too - could clean the trucks, enjoy a beer, and watch a hockey game!

Now, I just need to install them. I don't see anything wrong with them and the price is right!

Helpful perhaps not, useful, I would argue yes ;) - but neither was the homelink mirror I installed. I could have kept using my garage door opener, but I will never go back🤣
You should check out this Meross Garage Opener then.
You don't even have to push a button, just say "Hey Google(or Siri,) Open/Close my garage door"

The struts are 10% off even at Amazon, but still at $50, not for me. I put a set on my Sport Trac(they had worn out) last year for $25. All depends on what it's worth to you I suppose.

Hoods struts will be one of the first things I put on. I've hated those damn sticks ever since they cheaped out on hood springs. Annoying having to work around them.
Thanks for the heads up on this part.

Hood springs are definitely nice especially since they have the advantage of not degrading to a point where they suddenly try and fall on you like gas struts. I've heard the springs can be a total PITA to replace, but I've never seen any fail even on the 30+ year old timer vehicles in our fleet. Or on our new-ish Tahoes GM only has the spring hinges able to be opened to like 30 degrees which is a nuisance when you really need to be climbing in there.

Absolutely I only had one spring fail, hood still stood up. Replaced it with junkyard part. Those posts don't even hold up more than a few years either. The plastic tip breaks off, the hold down clips break. If someone had an aftermarket spring kit I'd get one.
30° Those engineers were not thinking of mechanics were they.

I finally opened the box. Looks exactly like the MRT kit, only $80 less :D

Plus you get 4 little Maverick decals; intended for the struts but not pre-applied so you can use them anywhere.

WARNING! I got around to installing the struts today. Again, everything looks like the MRT hood struts. I decided to move the hood up and down to exercise the struts. After a couple of mild movements, the passenger side strut froze, the hood was frozen in place and the strut had to be removed. I'm glad the hood wasn't fully closed when this happened. I returned them and wondering if I dare try again 🤔

Installed a set today. Took maybe 20 minutes so pretty simple. They must have changed hardware sizes slightly as an 11mm and 8mm turned out to not be necessary rather the bolt+nuts being both 10mm hex (so requiring a socket and wrench that size). The bodies of the shocks have some slight chips to the paint on them from rattling with the other components even though the brackets come in a light foam wrapping. The paint/powdercoating on the brackets was pretty thick, and it would probably make installing the shocks easier to remove it from the ball stud beforehand.

I'm on round II with the hood struts.

As a precaution, I lubricated strut shaft and exercised before installation. All pivot points lubricated and now works as it should (y)

Any updates? Do they still work?

I ordered the Redline strut kit off Amazon. It was $100. Not one issue with it at all. It's been on there almost 2 months. With making my oil catch can brackets, running the plumbing and doing that mod in stages over a period of weeks, I had the hood up and down more times than remember. Not one issue.
