Dangit Randy! Where were you 6 hours ago?!I would bet money this spot is designed to hold the optional Ford roadside assistance kit originally intended to be standard equipment on the Lariat.

Now that’s a valid and well thought hypothesis. The scientific method now requires us to test both hypotheses. Does every Maverick with a rear window have the pillow? (Yes/No). Does every Maverick Lariat have the pillow? (Yes/No).Nope you are all wrong... Look up. See that sliding rear window above it?
It's essentially a towel to catch excess moisture in case the window is open during a storm. The water gets trapped in this synthetic wool and then wicks throughout the seatback area to evaporate as efficiently as possible. It prevents water pooling and damage to the components in the area. If you are a real dummy it also prevents rust - but that's a lot of rain.
A lot of these car manufacturers these days are hiding "Easter eggs" in their vehicles. Looks to me like it might be padding for the electrical wire? Extra pillow is my second guess? Weed would have been an added bonus so long as it wasn't that schwag crap.Maybe Ford is pulling the weed out when it crosses the border and installing the emergency pillow to fill the space. Conspiracy theory? That's what they'll say.....
If said boyfriend sports a "man bun" then yes!I wouldn't recommend it. The PC police will get ya.

Has anyone ordered the optional kit to verify. If not do we have a volunteer? I'll chip in a dollar to help pay for it (sorry, that's all it's worth to find out for sure).Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding . . . . I think we have a winner.
I always orient my dingle arm vertically to prevent acoustic side-fumbling. Once it goes horizontal, amplification can only be contained parametricly. That's just simple physics.I understand you were likely trying to be brief to break-down the basics in layman's terms, but would like to supplement only that its key that the HEVI dampener is contained in the malleable logarithmic casing, or pouch, as without parametric containment, the dingle arm actually amplifies acoustic side-fumbling.
No sun roof. Just the sliding rear window.Do you have a sunroof? Being that it's so close to the air relief vent it may be there to deaden the "whoomp-whoomp-whoomp" noise from the vent while the sunroof is opened and the door windows are closed.
After looking at the kit I'll have to withdraw the winner bell. The road side kit is a little to big to fit, however, the first aid kit looks like it could be the perfect size.I would bet money this spot is designed to hold the optional Ford roadside assistance kit originally intended to be standard equipment on the Lariat. “Part No: VFL3Z19F515AB”
The roadside assistance kit I mentioned is the $59 one that does not have a picture on the Ford accessories page. The “commercial” kit is $219 would likely never be considered as potentially standard equipment. After looking at the kit I'll have to withdraw the winner bell. Maybe you can use it to kneel on when you have to get the spair tire out from underneath.I pulled the rear seat back down to check on the jack location and noticed a weird bulge on the back side of the seat back stuffed with felt like material. This has no obvious purpose. Anyone know what it's there for? Emergency pillow? There are no dents in it that would indicate that it's pressing against something on the rear wall. Near as I can tell the only thing in that area of the wall is a couple of wire bundles. I'm stumped.
