I was forced to, would never buy it from a dealer if not. Go to a detailer instead. I am 1000% convinced the dealer used a spray ceramic, as I could still see residue when I picked up the truck. You can do that yourself, for about $17 a bottle during a car wash.

$600 "appearance protection" add on, no way they are doing a real ceramic at that price, just lining their pockts.
^this. I do detailing as a hobby and the dealer added 1200 for ceramic coating. I took a detailing light and showed the manager that if they actually did coat it, they went right over all the swirl marks. Zero paint prep that’s essential! Looked further and could tell it was a cheap spray on ceramic as the windows and wheels had the same blotchy crap on them.
Took me few extra hours to strip the crap off, prep the paint and seal the right way.
Dealer refused to take the cost off because he knew mavericks are hard to come by and if I walked the next idiot would buy it as is

They required paint protection film (among other things) on mine, and didn’t even bother to install it. Stealerships!

That wouldn't fly. If it is on your invoice they either make it right or take them to small claims court.

Doing CC is not rocket science. There are several DIY u-tube videos. There is significant erroneous information from chatrooms like this one. Several here say you will "not need to claybar" a new truck....coming from people that have never CC a vehicle, and don't know any better. All Maverick's are delivered by rail and the nature of rail transport is metal dust all over the vehicle that is not going to come off with a "dealer car wash".

When you do a Claybar of a new Maverick you instantly see the low budget paint job on the Maverick....when you see the Claybar applicator get smoother and smoother as you rub the paint surface, the Claybar takes care of this roughless as well as it can. Deaminate chemicals (in the kits) are readily available at places like AutoZone....good Ceramic Costing kits are all over the internet for $100-$150. The difference is mostly is what is in the kit, applicator pads, how many good microfiber rags it includes, etc. Every kit I have purchased will do at least 2 vehicles.

I've CC 5 cars, 2 motorcycles and the Maverick...The Maverick is harder due to the height of the hood and roof, takes a ladder. The prep parts took 5-6 hours, the CC is the easiest part, 2 hours. It is a waste of time to do a CC without a garage to store the vehicle in from dust and any moisture for 24 hours. Many CC dealers are start-ups and do a rush job with inexperienced workers...I found most DEALERS simply sub out the work to dealers and justifiably add a heavy markup to cover warranty and complaints. Nothing against have a profit.

If I did not have the time or willpower to do a CC I'd check out independent CC shops that do it full time...with experience.
Excellent information. Thanks for posting.

I didn’t want it anyway. I gave them a letter before my truck arrived, telling them not to install any dealer added options. They stuck on a generic LoJack and threw some locking lug nuts in the glovebox.
