Placed an order for an XLT with HiBirds August 2021 and received it end of March 22.
Placed an order for an XLT EcoBoost, FX4, 4KTow, January 2022, and it's in transit now.
EcoBoost arrived and bought late day yesterday 12-9-22. Slightly over 10 months wait.
Trying out both and expect to sell the one I like least.
The 'free' cruise came available much later than my orders.

Try hitting resume with the cruise control set at 70 from a full stop.
On the Lariat/Lux (with ACC) it accelerates pretty smoothly back up to the set speed.

On a non-Lux (standard CC), I don't believe anything happens, since the CC doesn't come "alive" until .

Lariat hybrid with CP 360 - I find that having the cruise power and cancel buttons (left side) closer to the center of the wheel and the ACC distance and lane keep buttons toward the outside is backwards. I want cancel in a handier spot than it is - others agree?

Comment only: this vehicle has the most convoluted cruise control buttons I've ever experienced. It took me about 5000 miles before just beginning to understand them. Now with over 9000 miles I still make mistakes. All controls on the left side of the steering wheel was just a very stupid idea. No explanation of the fact that one of the controls is actually a master on/off and another control turns off cruise just temporarily.
Well it only cost me $2280. over the base model to get this feature, such a deal !
My old Fusion had nearly exactly the same controls -- same functions, slightly different form. My daughter's VW Jetta also has nearly identical functions with the cruise control, and all are located in the same place, just like the Fusion and the Maverick.

🤷‍♂️

The manual (page 213 and 219) says you can use the 'SET+' and 'SET-" buttons to raise or lower the speed you desire by holding the button. Once you reach the speed you want, release the button and the truck will adopt that speed.

If I hold either of the 'SET' buttons and release them when I reach the speed I want, the truck just keeps accelerating or de-accelrating. I have to tap the brakes to return throttle control to the driver.

If I press the 'SET+' button once, the truck sets the current speed as expected and maintains that speed.

Before I take it into the dealer, I thought I'd ask Club members if their Lariat hybrids did the same thing. . .

Thanks ahead of time.
yes, when you hold it for a bit, it’s a box of chocolates. If I hold my 98 Jeep and then release, it’s “going ballistic Mav” time.

The irony is your name being Car Nut and simple cruise control buttons are confusing you.

Doesn't really matter to me. Once you get used to the layout (as you will have to anytime you get in a different vehicle), it just works.

Only thing I learned and not sure if normal. Lariat /360 etc.
While sitting at a stop light and hitting the resume button does take it back to speed. The part that goes wonky for me is if I hit the gas pedal during acceleration. The truck bogs down hanging around 20mph and the revs shoot up over 3k. Best option I have is to shut off the auto cruise.
For now I learned not to hit the gas! Anyone else have this?

I'm currently 76 yo.

Additionally, I have three vehicles with cruise control on each. There is zero consistency of controls from one to the others.

Weird. Pretty self explanatory for me.

X cancels it
Cruise icon toggles on/off
Set + sets or increases
Set - sets or decreases
Res resumes
Pressing the set button in also resumes your last set speed.

Pressing the set button in also resumes your last set speed.
Resume will resume.

Set buttons will set to the current speed. Even if you previously set and canceled cruise control (grayed out, strike through speed displayed on screen). They do not resume.

Pressing again with foot off gas pedal will increase or decrease set speed. Pressing again with foot on gas pedal thinks you manually adjusted your speed so it still sets to current speed.

After trying out many of the suggestions here, I'm thinking the manual needs to be 'clarified' to reflect what actually happens when you toggle and hold the SET function.

1. Toggling the RESUME button once to either SET+ or SET- causes the truck to accept a 1 MPH change in the set speed.

2.Toggling (and holding) the RESUME button to either SET+ or SET- allows the driver to more quickly set a desired speed, which is shown digitally on the dashboard. The truck then immediately tries to meet the new speed change.

In my opinion, the number two option's usable factor is iffy. It is only available while the truck is moving, and a driver has to get used to timing the toggle just right to get near the speed they want and then they have to take their eyes from the road to watch the cruise control speed indicator on the dash to know when to release it.

Oops went to far, gotta back it down. Oops backed it down to far. . .

It seems the engineers at Ford (and maybe other Marks as well) are forgetting that the driver needs to have their eyes looking out the windows as much as possible and controls and 'features' should be designed to that end.

Thank for contributing. . . . I have a better understanding of how it is supposed to work now.
