I have the standard screw on antenna.
Lots of people are talking about the stubby, but I tried one and it failed miserably.
Someone mentioned cutting a hole. I figure that will weaken the integrity of the cover and allow water to get in.
I was hoping someone had a true shark fin that worked well, but it's not looking good.
I don’t see how the stubby can fail “miserably” when so many people have great luck with it. Where do you live….. an island in the Pacific? And again, was it the Cravenspeed stubby or a different fake one off of Amazon?? Just curious.

If you want a REAL FM antenna you need something looking like Sputnik crashed into your roof

But seriously FM wavelength is quite long and 1/8 wave is pushing it for decent next city reception.

I used the stubby on my 22; reception was bad! Keeping the stock antenna on my 25. As long as I take the cover off front to back and roll it as I go, and then again put it on front to back unrolling as I go, I have no problem. You cannot pull it the opposite direction of the angle of the antenna.

I agree. Their not all the "same", there's cheap knock offs everywhere you look. I've had the cravenspeed one on my MY22, been in alot of remote backwoods places and never had an issue with reception. I understand environmental conditions can make a difference regardless of product but from my experience it would be rare. 🤷‍♂️

I want to use a cover and don't want to have to remove and replace the antenna every time.
My concern is that the antenna won't have the same base size as the factory antenna and there will be marks on the roof.
I'm hoping it's new enough (bought in January 2025) that there won't be an issue, but I want to make sure before I do anything.
I'm also concerned about how the new antenna will seal against the roof.
My friend has a truck with a shark-fin and his reception seem fine. That was a concern from things I had read, but I'm comfortable with that now.
I had an audio shop mention a hidden power antenna. I know nothing about them.
Any suggestions and thoughts are appreciated.
Back in the day, before GPS/Satellite Radio became widespread cars that had the roof mounted whip antenna had the option of being replaced with a shark fin antenna with a coiled antenna in the fin to maintain AM/FM reception, as seen here:

https://www.amazon.com/Aerial-Antenna-Automotive-Accessories-Universal/dp/B0BGKZTBMC?th=1

Sadly, this won't fit over the hump that holds the satellite antenna's on your Maverick, I did a little research on it and didn't find anything like this for our Mavericks. The rat tail AM/FM antenna with the large/unpainted base is the only exterior feature I do not like on the Maverick. I mostly listen to Satellite Radio and pod cast off my phone but I do listen to an FM channel every once in awhile, I live in a rural area and I also don't want to compromise the function of my radio so I left it as is.

Automakers like Toyota and Dodge have integrated the AM/FM antenna on their trucks into the body of the vehicle for years now, they just have a small painted shark fin for the Nav/Sat Radio, this is something I wish Ford did as well.
