Took my truck in for a dash recall today mine went black and while it was there, I ask them to check my hyper flash problem I have had since they did the last computer update. The really had a hard time understanding the problem started after a BCM module update I had to tell them the same thing about four times and finally give them a lesson in the English language. Now they were really nice about it and wanted to take out all my LED bulbs and install ford bulbs and charge me for them. I told them a better idea was to remove the update to the BCM they did and put it back like it was. They aren't smart enough to do that. I ended up telling them just to leave it alone before they screw something else up. Blinkers work fine let the thing flash. Now when they did that BCM update it also turned off my brake hold that i use all the time on the hybrid because it will roll easily. So I take off to the next town for an appointment and first stoplight I come to I stop take my foot off the brake and off I go darn near hit the car in front of me but because I don't pull right up to the bumper of the car in front of me all was well. The dash update well It is not working correctly I can't go through the menu selections because they are no longer all there. Looking forward to trying to explain that to them.

It is like the old East Germany - just a 'glitch' part of the experience

So your aftermarket hardware is causing you trouble and you're mad at your dealer for not removing a recall to fix it? During the process they change your default setting and you don't notice and it's their fault? It sounds like you're expecting more than is reasonable.

You're assuming Ford gives the dealers the ability to roll back an update FOR A RECALL to a prior state - that seems unlikely to me. In fact, it sounds like a legal liability issue, if it's not an outright violation of federal regulations.

Agreed. If one is going to go into the Forscan forest, one has to expect the dealership to not be able to do what one has done. Many in here have saved their settings prior to any dealership visit fully knowing that the dealership has to do the stock thing, due to liabilities.

Forscan at your own risk.

I am tired of people whining because the updates didn't work with their Jerry rigged trucks. The thousands of us who didn't add Chinese junk to our vehicles, are pleased that the updates made our vehicles safer.

Actually, the OP did not mention anything about Forscan. I think he just had the bulbs with the resistors that worked before Ford altered their software.

Ya, that's what I understood as his post. When I installed the Lasfit LED's I kept the OEM bulbs 'just in case'. Glad I did as that bulb-out update made the LasFits unusable. I'm not too bothered by it as I thought the OEMs were pretty bright anyway, but still waiting for LasFit to come up with a working replacement.

If you don't have Forscan, I would encourage you to get it and then you can disable the hyperflash. I had the same issue after the recall update and rather than taking it back to the dealer, I just used Forscan and everything is back to normal. It took about 5 minutes to go through the module and make the changes. On the forscan forum there is the instructions on where to go and how to do it if you need that information.
