So here's my question.... first, I'm sorry you had to replace the windshield in your new truck. But my question is, did anyone have that annoying cracking, tick noise around what seems to be dash/windshield area, do you still have the noise after glass swap?
To add to your comment regarding the annoying cracking/tick sound, I've got that too, from day one since receiving the Maverick about 1,600 miles ago. It seems to be related to turning the steering wheel at low speed while braking. 'Sounds like a small stone hitting the windshield, or a crack progressing. I think I'll report it to the dealer just in case it breaks further down the road. Have others posted about this noise?

Haven't yet replaced my windshield and yes I did have that annoying creaking sound like walking on an old wooden floor. Tried to locate the sound coming from the middle of the dash somewhere. Going to drive around tomorrow with the radio turned off and see if the creaking sound is gone since the windshield cracked.

Oh yes..... many many members have posted about this noise. I have my suspicions, that's why I'm asking if it went away when anyone's windshield was replaced.

Mine cracked in first week of ownership from a dump truck rock . Apparently having a sign on the back of your dump truck that reads "stay back 200 feet-,not responsible for damage to your vehicle" absolves responsibility???( Bulls#@t !) The crappy Ford windshield is the only complaint I have about my Maverick. I truly love this truck.
So you BLAME Ford's windshield for not standing up by being hit by a rock thrown from a Dump Truck.

That make Zero sense.

I would like to know which vendor you think makes the invincible windshields that can not crack under the same circumstance?

I had my windshield replace by Safelite last month with a new Ford windshield, the noise did not go away with the installation of the new one.

Like I said before, I owned an '05 FX4 for 7 years ( it was 9 years old when I bought it) that got pelted with plenty of rocks , and not even a slight chip in that windshield. Own an '07 Sport Trac for the last 15 years, and same thing....not even a chip . IDK....... just sayin.

If you can get Ford to swap out your windshield due to rock damage, more power to you!

2 cracked windshields in previous cars taught me not to tailgate on the highway, cause you know, rocks happen. Also, just like "back in my day, if your car rolled over you just rolled it back and kept going" - new materials for comfort and safety may not be as strong. The acoustic windshield probably sacrifices some strength for comfort.

Crappy Ford windshield? How fast were you going when said rock hit your glass? What do you suppose would happen to your face if you took the same rock at the same speed? What the eff exactly do people expect this glass to do?

The dealership did the ballpoint pen test and concluded that something hit the windshield where the 2 cracks merge into 1. That's about 2 inches below the hood line and below the windshield wipers. They had to raise the hood to take photos at the dealership.
If it failed the pin test then why would they cover it? It is pretty easy to determine glass that has cracked due to impact. I have seen factory glass crack with no signs of impact. But those are very rare.

Just contact your insurance company, most of them replace windshields at no cost, I believe it falls under comprehensive coverage.
Depends on your deductible.

After I left the dealership I drove to Safelite to get their opinion and, the guy was very helpful and thought it looked like a stress crack after his pen test.
