Been out of town for 2 days with another 7 to go. Last night I got a notification I’m already in deep sleep mode. What can I expect when I return? Starts up fine? Needs a jump? Completely dead battery that needs to be replaced? What an annoying vehicle.

I have a 2022 XLT hybrid.

It's not the truck. I don't think.
It's a crappy 12v battery.

I put a 12v data logger on mine.
The truck draws 5 watts for 90 minutes after you turn the key off. Then it draws absolutely nothing after that. Or below detectible limits.

The limit of my data logger is 20 mA.
That's 0.02 amp. There is no parasitic draw. But my battery won't hold a charge. Park it at 12.4 or 12.5 volts. Next morning the dome light and parking lights come on when you open the door - this draws a minor 4.65 amps, or about 55 watts - but that tiny draw pulls the battery down to 11.7 to 11.9 volts.

Your truck will start if the voltage is high enough to run the computers and close the contacts on the HV battery that really starts the engine.

Data logger put on under seat battery.

After 1 h 35 min only 7 watt-hours were consumed from that 12 volt battery and 0.00 mA draw at the time the photo was taken and was zero for the rest of the overnight period.

The data logger does not log direction of flow, which is annoying but it was only a few bucks.

Shown here is "charging" amps going in which matches the more expensive scan gauge nicely. The scan gauge will show negative numbers for discharge and positive for charge.

Your data logger may not pull enough to amount to squat directly but anything it does pull will
not be seen by the factory bms since it is located between the factory bms and the negative post. Due to warning in manual to not attach anything to negative post I believe that factory bms will interpret the disappearing consumption as reduction of battery capacity and adjust it's recharging. Again this would take some time to accumulate but would be there. The 5 watt draw for 90 minutes will be something active on the 12v buss (power point circuit) which keeps active for the set time delay (90 minute default) OR until 12v battery drops to 12.0-12.1 (I don't remember which). Change the time out period or turn off /remove whatever is on circuit. This will help also but is not the total answer. Also I do not believe this will turn off the power point delay early but does turn off the courtesy light, radio, dash, etc early, is to double lock (phone push key fob or outside door handle area twice) your truck.

People are not paranoid.

Walking up to the truck without touching it does wake it up and it starts to draw current.

I had both my cell phone and XLT key fob in my pocket.

Next experiment is to try just the fob, then just the cell phone.

The reason it could be the cell phone is my phone is set to automatically pair with the truck. You'd think the key would need to be to run to pair the cell phone, but maybe not. I'll let ya know.

I can walk up to my truck with just the cell phone and nothing happens. If I walk up to it with the key fob in my pocket I get the clickety clickety of the relays under the hood.

Which trim do you have?

I might have expected that with a Lariat but seems to do that with XLT which is more surprising.

While researching something else on the Cyanlab site, I came across mention of a fix for an APIM issue where it continually stays powered up. That might cause the phone pairing thing you mention. I'll see if I can find it again.

On second thought, this would only be for Lariats with Sync 3.

With further intentional testing,

I can NOT wake up the truck simply with the key fob present. Which is what I believed at time of purchase.

What I think is happening is; the truck wakes up / makes clicking and buzzing noises for UNKNOWN reasons, and sometimes, owners have the key fob present by coincidence and make the association.
🤷🏻‍♂️

I wonder if someone were to park their truck in the garage, go on the app and see what the tire pressure was. Then a few hours later, without the fob or by doing anything to wake the truck up, were to let a few pounds of air out of the tire, then check their app again later and see if it registered the lower presure in that one tire.

If so, it must have something awake to communicate the tire pressure change, even if it only wakes up occasionally.
