Ok, 2025 XLT no 4k. I have a 30 year old 5'x10' homemade utility trailer. I didn't make it; it was built by, and purchased from, someone else. Bed is eight 2x8x10s. I am under the impression all trailers are supposed to have a weight plate but I see no such plate on this one. It is a single axle, running two 185/80 R13s. It also has a drop down ramp. There are some numbers stamped on the hitch portion of the tongue. Best I can tell, it says Shelby 5135, 3500lbs MGTW, 300lbs tongue weight. It's a strong trailer - I've had a 1500lb tractor on it a couple decades ago. I never gave any thought about towing capacity when using it with my dad's old 1980 F150.

But with the Maverick, I never intend to load it up that much but am curious to see if you guys think I will be ok loading a 680lb lawnmower on it and pulling it with the mav. Or do I need to take the trailer somewhere and weigh it just to make sure I don't exceed 2k.

Maybe I'm overthinking it, but I don't want to tear anything up.

Thanks a bunch!

I just go online to the U-Haul site, reserve a trailer as big as I need within the limits of the truck's capabilities. I don't have 4k either.

For example, you could rent a 5x9 open w/ ramp, (note all the specs there listed for you) and the combined weight would be 1,900 lbs., and the ramp can handle your mower. It'll cost you $30 for a day (that's w/ insurance), and then you just drop it off yourself using the phone app to take a few photos and you're on your way not worrying about where to keep that old trailer or whether the next time you go to use that trailer, the tires have air, the lights work, no wildlife has roosted, etc.

Recently, I needed a couple of 16' 2x6s to fix a fence and thought about whether I should invest in a lumber rack or fabricate something based on the flex bed capability... nope, just rented a trailer for a few hours. I don't haul that long of stock that often.

Ok fellers, gather 'round and behold a sight to see. She hasn't been used in a while. Those tires are indeed trailer tires...says so on the sidewalk.

I wouldn't sweat it
I have basically the same 5x10 lawn trailer and I have pulled it behind my '22 Mav hybrid many, many times loaded down with lawn equipment, scrap for the junkyard, you name it
Drove it loaded down with everything that would fit on it including the mower from central Florida to South Carolina up 95 at highway speeds when we moved up here.
I weighed mine years ago and it was like 650 or 700 pounds empty

Yeah, looks at least 5lb heavier than what I could bench press so 650lb prolly about in the neighbourhood of the ballpark area zone.

I wouldn't pull it loaded from Tampa to Seattle, but what you are doing, you are good to go, it will be fine. I havent pull anything but an antique, horse drawn, JD sickle mower about a block to relocate it. I have a 10' Carry On utility trailer that's probably a little heavier than your trailer and I will pull it and my mower without concern.

That is so small and light your Maverick won't even know it's there, empty.

You will be fine doing what you want to do. No Sweat.
