Ford Authority says all ‘23 Lariat must be AWD, no longer FWD…. I think this is going to help with production, pretty sure that means all Stock Lariats Ecoboost will be AWD.

I think that s correct. It means ALL Ecoboost Models will be AWD as a base, whether retail ordered or as a stock unit.

Should speed production and the profit line. If you want the lux junk that comes with Lariat you pay for AWD aswell. Probably profit $500 a unit. Say there are 10,000 2.0 Lariat. Thats a cool $5,000,000.

So, is this true or not??? Does the Lariat base price now reflect increased costs for AWD? Did not a lot of people order Lariat FWD??

Sales Manager at the dealership where I rolled over to a MY23 said that Ford stated that if a customer ordered a '22 that didn't arrive and rolled it into a '23 that they would build the truck any way they wanted.

So, I am still wondering: Are ALL MY23 Lariats which are not rollovers equipped standard with AWD????

The sales manager at my dealer said he is a french maid online. Literally said that.

take EVERYTHING the dealer tells you with a grain of salt.

All '23 Lariat's ordered with the EcoBoost engine requires the AWD (W8F) option regardless if it's a new order or a rollover.

For my needs I say "What's really the point of the EB other than to get AWD?" I don't do much towing and would rather have had the fuel economy but living in the sticks in the UP necessitates AWD for me. Will be ordering the PHEV AWD version if it ever comes out.

I am glad I did not order the Lariat trim, this decision by FoMoCo would piss me off to no end. Ford has taken away a person's choice of powertrains. Personally, I do not want or need AWD. I do not want the weight penalty of the extra hardware. Secondly, I will stay home if there is just a hint of ice or snow. I have seen Lexus and Acura making the same decision.

I think this was talked about on another thread on this same subject. But my theory is Ford is simply looking at their numbers. Those that opted for the Lariat EB for MY22 likely also opted for AWD in large enough numbers Ford felt comfortable simplifying their offerings.
