I recently bought a Motorola MA1 for wireless android auto. It works fairly well. But I wanted to run torque on it. I found out later that this is not allowed. But you can if you use something called an ai box. There seems to be a few out there. But also have read they can be flakier than just a wireless dongle. Anyone have an ai box and care to share your experience?

I have one which I use for CarPlay, so while I cannot share any experience with an Android, I can tell you I'm satisfied with its performance. At times it will take a minute or two to load my phone's info, but other than that, it works well.
Not sure which model I have (purchased from a MTC member who wanted something else), but it does enable me to watch Netflix on the Mav's screen. Course, with Netflix changing their password rules, I have to wonder how long that will last.

If you have the Netflix subscription I would rase hell you can't watch it. Seems most of these AI boxes are slanted towards caraway. I just want to run torque. Looks like xda developer lab is gone. Other than the ai box not sure there is another way. Think it's bs that you can't display the gauges. I can understand video streaming while driving but not a gauge set up.

Depending on your phone type, you can run Screen2Auto, free, app and view Torque.
Works on my Moto MA1 adapter(or wired) with my Pixel 6 Pro, Oneplus 9, and Motorola phones.

Basically, this as well as most of the AI boxes just mirror your phone. Netflix and other apps with DRM (HBO Max,Hulu, etc.) don't allow screen mirroring. Copyright issues. Youtube works, 3rd party video apps work, IPTV apps work.

Do not see an app named screen to auto but do see many similar. What did you use?

Have to root your phone? Don't even see that app.

Root not required. Both my Pixel 6 Pro and OnePlus 9 are unrooted. Just install Screen2Auto using an app called AAEASE. Won't find it in the Playstore as Google doesn't want you using it, hence why they block it.
