I was so disappointed by trucks sound system after a few weeks of not using the truck, seriously a low trim 10yr old Prius with a stereo screen that lost its first layer due to delaminating so can’t be seen in daylight, sounds so flawless compared to Stock Maverick Radios drops, clicks and lower range rasps. I had gotten so used to the short comings over the past year.
When something like that is packaged with clear instructions I will be getting it!
What were you expecting for a cheap truck regarding a sound system?

I have upgraded my B&O extensively, but I've heard the base system and it's crap. To your point, I did actually expect it to be crap considering the '22 base Maverick was advertised at $19,995 plus delivery & fees.

So the fact that it's crap is not very surprising, and many people have installed amps and replacement speakers, but a big issue is that you can't easily do anything about the Ford Connected Audio infotainment. *That* is what this thread is about. Replacing the infotainment, yet keeping functionality. Regarding the 'sony xplode cd receiver' idea / comment, most of the important settings are in the infotainment center display. Few of them are in the driver's panel. But if you want a fully functioning truck, you need both.

From the video in the first post, there's a "CAR" button on the Alpine receiver but unfortunately they don't press it. If they had, I'd be curious if you get the Ford menu, the same as choosing Ford when you're using the stock systems with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

That fitment isnt terrible. The mount could use the screen being just a tad higher so you still have full access to the buttons under it. Excited to see what comes out down the road. We are still early into the life of this new model.

Hadn’t thought about that one I forgot that the screen controls updates and what not !

It's neat but you loose all the oem functions... wouldn't be worth the cost! I would just want a wider screen with sharper resolution and faster processor and everything else can stay as it is!

There's a bunch of Ford enthusiasts, across models, who have tried to adapt Sync4. Maverick, Escape, Mustang, F150, you name it.

I'll spare you the research and reading and summarize it by saying that if your vehicle didn't have a trim level / option including Sync4, you (currently as of May 2023) are very unlikely to get it working with Sync4.

Since the Maverick is in that category -no option with Sync4 - aftermarket solutions like this are very appealing. Just a few weeks ago in a different thread I honestly poo-pooed the idea 🤣 but it does look feasible.

At least equal to a low quality cheap North Korean copy of a Chinese copy of a Japanese company that was not longer in business because they where below Casio quality.

I agree. It seems like using the climate control buttons & knobs would be very difficult.

Hopefully someone figures out an "inexpensive" way to add a slightly bigger screen without losing any other functionality.

Sync 4 can be made to work in the Maverick, but so far only the 8" which is the same size as stock has been tried/successful.

I stopped following that thread long ago because it's a mismash of connected audio to Sync3 and a few people trying Sync4, but my impression was that no one was able to get 100% stock functionality out of a Sync4 swap. Telematics I thought was a hard fail, so no FordPass. And I thought people were not getting chimes and other system noises.

I could be wrong.

You have a point, but a bunch of factory vehicles look like this, or honestly even with a less-integrated look. Many do not have a well-integrated screen even though we're into our second decade of cars having displays like this.

Look at the new Expedition for example, or even the Escape's optional unit in these pics.

I know other vehicles have the tablet look. I also heard of people grabbing the screen thinking they could turn or tilt it and ended up breaking it. Especially with children. This seems it would be much easier to bump it with something since it protrudes out more.

The stock sound system is better than that in our VW jetta and previous Hyundai accent. It's definitely not decent, but it is less sucky than a lot of base model sound systems. I was actually somewhat surprised it wasn't worse.

The fact that it occasionally will freeze (maybe once a month for us) is super annoying. That has never happened in the other cars.

My base mk7 jetta sound was the worst of any car I've ever been in, much less owned . Makes the Ford sound decent for non audiophiles.
