Now, if a person has spotty cell phone signal, Garmin or the in vehicle GPS might make more sense.
Most apps let you download maps for "offline" mode, and some will even update downloaded maps automatically. I always download maps for whatever region I'm going to be in, especially if it's somewhere I think I might not have a signal (Adirondacks, UP, Mordor).

I'm confused. I have a 23 Lariat, and it comes standard with navigation. Why did you have to add something that is already there?

Not sure if you knew, but Google Maps can save maps for offline use. They also can be set to Auto update when you do have a cell/Wi-Fi signal.
