Before jumping into a bunch of mods, shop around and see if there are better options.

I bought this Dewalt compressor because all my battery tools are Dewalt. It's a $100 but there are some nice units for under $50.

I'm not limited by a cord and can take it anywhere.

DEWALT 110-Volt Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) Air Inflator (Power Source: Battery; Car; Electric) in the Air Inflators department at Lowes.com
That's a nice unit. Doesn't look like it will fit in the cubby though. My plan is to get the cheapest one possible in case it gets stolen. I have a big one at home so this would just be for emergencies anyway. Something like this:

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-12-Volt-Inflator-HD12A/301753171

One thing I'm going to need is a 12 volt extension cord to get from the cubby to the tire.

I have a regular xlt and there are already 12 volt cubbies on both sides of the bed just behind the bigger cubbies . they have a cover/insert into existing sockets . just need to find the right receptacles / cover to plug in .

bought the 4 port one so that I have USB, 12v, power button, and the volt display. Will see how it looks once installed.
I had a thought today... Will it stay out of the way of plywood loaded in the bed?

Im going to mount it inside the back right cubby that way the door can go back on and it’s out of the way.

I'm planning on mounting on the driver's side because my panel is going to be blank. XLT no lux. That is... If I ever get a build date! 🤣😳😭

Do you like the Dewalt compressor? I have lots of Dewalt batteries so this might be the ticket for me.

They’re supposed to come out with the pricing info on the cubby part number soon. Could be an option through parts if you were wanting that side piece.

On the trucks with out a cubby(whether the XL with 0 or the XLT with only the passenger side) the other side only has the cover and behind that is an open space to the ground. I'm really hoping that Ford makes an insert to make it in to a cubby of some kind. Or has a way to make it in to one.

I think I've read somewhere that you can order the parts for a driver's side cubby. That being said... The panel included can be removed. So, I think I'm still wanting to put a plug and switch or two.

I might be wrong on this, but isn't the plywood sitting on top of the wheel wells? If so you should be able to mount most any of these panels on the bottom front of the cubby/box and be ok

I like it a lot. When I need a little bit of air, it beats firing up the big compressor.
