Those round key locks are harder to pick

I just prefer round keys for this type of application and because they're easier to carry in my pocket.

Is anyone still interested in a locking door for their bed cubby? I have produced a complete replacement door made of 1/8" steel plate. It comes with a keyed lock that requires no modification to your original cubby. Simply remove your plastic door and replace it with the new one.

Dtex, I really like your product. I have the Ford Tough spray in bed liner it is a rough texture. I would like one to match this texture if possible. The smooth black one would not look as good

I have a new batch of bed cubby doors with a smooth matte black finish that doesn't collect a lot of dust like a rougher finish would. They come with a combination lock with a protective cover.
I also will include 6 bolts and washers with each door that are black oxide coated stainless steel. They are security torx head bolts, and the TT30 installation bit is also included.

Nice! Some of my customers want and have me install those combo locks on their pinball machines.

The funny thing is I think the lock alone is overkill but it’s nice to have. I have a MX4 so unless someone is putting something in these that’s valuable, they won’t know it’s there. And not sure what valuables I’d leave in my car yet alone in the cubby. My desert eagle will be on me before I’d leave it in there.

Very nice job! I added a second bed cubby on the driver's side of my XLT and love it. My cheesy approach to improved security was to fabricate aluminum replacements for the stock lock bodies on both sides. They're not at all "secure" as I just use the ignition key like a screwdriver to open them. I figured that those plastic doors are pretty easy to pry out, so actual security is impossible. My lock is mostly psychology but might slow down a lazy kid who happened to walk by.

Those look great, nice work.
And psychology is really all most "security" is, making it easier for a common crook to move on to the next guy. If someone wants what you have badly enough, they'll get it one way or another.

I think you could get away with a 1/4' thick aluminum plate, backing the plastic panel. That way it would still look plastic. If they started to pry it off they would then realize it is locked metal and take more time for the theft leaving them to abandon the heist of get caught by you.

Unless you have a tubular lock impressioning tool, then it takes like 5 seconds.

Not all thieves are familiar with those types of devices. Your absolutely correct though

How do you set the combo on the lock?

There is a small hole on the bottom of the knob that you stick a pin into and set the new combo while holding pressure on the pin. The lock has to be in the existing combo position before rotating the numbers to the new combo, release the pin, the new combo is set.

And the average tweaker doesn't have the tools beyond a knife or some pointy weapon.
Steel or plastic you probably don't want to stick one of these stickers on your cubbies door.
