Maybe you've shown us a photo of a subcompact truck, Maverick is a compact truck, and Ranger is a midsize truck.

It's like trying to fit every variation of music into a genre.... What's the point in debating it?

Do you have buyer's remorse and need to move your truck purchase to a bigger category to justify it to yourself? Just curious why the distinction is important to you..

Look at my Maverick parked next to the Chevrolet Colorado, a midsize truck ..

I think my Maverick is a wee lil truck and I'm okay with that.

I'm pretty sure the Maverick is THE SMALLEST "pickup truck" one can buy new now.
The Santa Cruz is shorter, but wider and heavier so you can decide if it is "smaller" or "bigger".

Comparing it to something made decades ago isn't really meaningful, other than to recycle the discussion about car size inflation over time.

We could argue about whether it really is a "truck" or just a car with a bed like an El Camino?

I think you read my comments not recognizing that I was infact wryly smiling as I typed and not scowling... My ridiculous use of emojis was being playful as well. Dry humor never plays well in the interwebs ...

I. Live in California, my registration says Commercial not passenger, therefore it's a truck, no size, just a truck. Traded my 19 year old Ranger for my Maverick and couldn't be happier with it.

I think they have gotten bigger because of crash regulations. Also, you need room for all the airbags. I love those older Toyota trucks.
