Heater vent? Hot air rises, cold air falls. Most modern low end vehicles rely on front AC vents to cool rear seat area - unless there are separate vents in back of front console. My 2013 Jeep has that. Can't say for sure this is how Maverick does it since I don't have mine quite yet to verify.

Turn on your AC and put your hand down there and see if cold air comes out?

I agree with you regarding air density. But I tested, they are AC vents. After that I did a quick research, this solution is not new. BMW and Audi, for example, use it.

Wife had a Cadillac Catera (inherited from her mom) and the marketing team highlighted that the glove box had an AC vent that kept "Bon Bons" from melting.
