We successfully implemented this improved calibration into the production of the 2026 Maverick Hybrid AWD. For these owners, the change means increased confidence on snowy driveways or rutted dirt roads. We are also working to release this new traction calibration as an Over-The-Air (OTA) update for our existing 2025 Maverick Hybrid AWD customers. We’ll share more information about timing soon.

Wondering if they'll take care of the slowing down thunk while they are at it.

Yes, fantastic news. Although it's been great for myself - including navigating through a very bad ice storm this last winter flawlessly. I had a bad feeling the 25 AWD Hybrid would not be updated with this tech and there may be a perception it was a slightly tainted product because of this.

Good day

You can check your Ford App, if you have it, to see your updates, if you want.

Easier then going out to your truck!
Cheers,

Andy

I have the same one waiting to be done tomorrow am!

I am heading in to the dealer tomorrow to have a couple things done and they are doing the trailer update then.

Have a good one,

Andy

That thought crossed my mind as well. It may be too early into the model year but I wonder if there are any MY26 Maverick AWD owners who are experiencing the 13 mph thunk, thud or clunk? My 25 AWD Hybrid didn't make the noise for a handful of months after I purchased it from new and I know of several of owner's who noticed the same thing. Still not sure what's causing the issue and those who have taken into their dealer's haven't gotten a solution.

Does anyone know if the trailer programming module update 26C10 is going to be done OTA? I had the parking brake one done a few days ago so hopefully this trailer one comes OTA too plus I'm happy about the OTA update that appears to be coming for our 25 AWD system.

When I get in to my dealer tomorrow AM, I can ask...no guarantees though that they know, of course.

But there is no harm in asking.

Of course, if someone here has done it OTA, and they read this thread, they may chime in as to their experience.

Have a good one,

Andy

It is the mechanical rear driveshaft re-engaging the AWD at 13mph.

Well yes I agree it's something making the thunk noise with the rear driveshaft re-engaging at around 13mph. The most interesting question is why some have the noise and some don't? I've seem some people mention that the thunk noise is normal when the AWD is re-engaging but I don't buy that argument.

I know I keep dragging my feet on taking it into the dealer but I'm holding out hope that someone is able to figure out why this noise is happening on a certain percentage of AWD Maverick's and is dead silent on others. I know outside temperature plays a factor as when it's around freezing or below (give or take) the thunk goes away. To me it points some part of the drivetrain not clearing another part upon re-engagement of the AWD system in warmer temps - maybe something to do with expansion and contraction of parts of the AWD system depending on the outside temperature. Could point to a tolerance being off a bit of some of those parts as to why a large % of AWD Maverick's don't get the 13 mph thunk noise. Again this is just me spit balling on what might be causing the issue...
