8,888.8 Miles Review (Sitting on the Tailgate)

I love the BAP head/tailights. They look so good with the bright color but I really prefer the grey of the base XLT wheels. Personal preference, and obviously I am biased

I actually ordered an ECO, 4k, XLT lux as well when I ordered the '23 also. The problem is that the hybrid was delivered first and once I drove it, there was no decision to be made - I fell in love with the hybrid powertrain. I never even drove the ECO

I am sure the eco is faster, more capable and very fun to drive. Premium does make a difference in every Ecoboost engine, but if I am honest I usually run premium in my hybrid anyway.

I had the Michelin Cross Clinates on my Kia Sportage for the nice year months and had Michelin X-Ice for winter. They make such a difference in snow and ice but the CC2 are good otherwise.

In what now feels like a previous life, I had a Fiesta ST with a set of X-Ice too. Many late night highway runs in snow, ice, rain and I can honestly say that I was never out of control. Not even once. It would push snow with the bumper.

CC2 feels like 85% of that

Lets talk fuel economy
I have driven fuel efficient vehicles since I bought my 2016 Ford Fiesta SFE 1.0L in early 2017. My average over 30k miles was 45.5MPG and I miss that 5 speed. I then bought a VW Passat TDI DSG and averaged 37.1MPG over 35k miles. The Maverick replaced the Passat.

According to the trip that I have never reset, I am getting 39.7 MPG. I drive in normal mode. Real life (Fuelly) shows that I have used 219 gallons of fuel in 8,417 miles as of the last fill-up = 38.4MPG

Worried it will be too slow?
Don't be. This is as quick as any (non-performance) car on the road to normal driving speeds. It really accelerates like an EV and I rarely find myself using more than 50% power. When I had the Passat I would be on the floor every time I got on the highway.

This "truck"
Just gets my people and my things where they need to be without complaints. Its quiet, efficient and inoffensive.

My favorite part
Is the tailgate. The height of it is perfect and I sit on it nearly every day. This was unexpected, but I LOVE IT.

I will probably replace
The factory continentals next year. Thinking Michelin CrossClimate2 right now, I had these on the Passat and they are amazing. I will stay at stock size 225/65R17 - Does anyone have experience with these tires on a hybrid? I am curious what kind of MPG sacrifice I will be making.

Good review. Love that color! Mine is the same color but got the EB w/AWD, BAP, SIBL, Hitch receiver. I've got only 4,200 miles on mine so far but enjoying the ride every time I get in. Mine came off the lot as a "used" vehicle with 666 miles at signing! Newest "used" vehicle I've ever bought. Waaaay over priced at $41,400 BUT they gave me $21,500 for my '21 Corolla which was paid off. $18,815 out the door. I don’t let mine get below 1/4 in order to keep the gas as low as possible. Downside of the EB is it needs premium to be happy.

Interesting when you used thenumber 50% throttle, what that means is you were actually at WOT. Only difference is the further you push pedal toward the floor the higher your shift points become, giving the feeling of being faster.

Your experience seems to be about the same as mine. I ordered my hybrid in Nov 2021 and picked it up Jan 2023. I also like the tailgate height. Just right to change shoes at the golf course or just hang out if I need a place to sit. I've got a little over 5K on mine now. With a light foot and staying in electric mode on backroads I regularly get over 50 mpg on the way to work. Still have plenty of power for passing or taking off. I've been averaging 45 mpg per tank overall with city/hwy combined. There's not many gas vehicles that can come close. Much less as roomy and comfortable with a good size bed and can tow/haul a reasonable amount. Oh yeah, base price was less than a Kia. No wonder Ford never needed to advertise the Maverick, it sold itself. Good luck to you and many years of happy motoring!
