Just wanted to share some thoughts on towing travel trailer with my new Maverick, as well as general thoughts on the truck so far:

Maverick XLT Ecoboost with towing package, AWD, and co-pilot 360.

Towing:
I'm pulling a very small trailer (only 17ft and roughly 1800 pounds empty), but the Maverick handled is like a dream. I just got back from my first weekend towing about 3 1/2 hours across the Texas Hill Country. It did a fantastic job and I managed 14.8 mpg on the return trip (only 12.8mpg on the way there as I was facing a strong headwind the entire drive). If you've towed travel trailers you'd know that 15mpg is almost unheard of, even with very small trailers - it's like pulling a parachute behind you. The power never felt lacking, I never experienced any noticeable sway (even without a weight distribution hitch). I have a lot of experience towing travel trailers of different sizes with multiple vehicles.

>The good:
-Plenty of power and 15mpg towing a travel trailer
-Very comfortable ride - the most comfortable towing vehicle I've driven
-The rear camera with the hitch dotted line and the "+" to zoom in right onto the ball is a game changer for solo traveling
-Experienced no trailer sway at all even without a weight distribution/sway bar system
-Blind spot system turns off automatically when a trailer is connected (but also listed as a negative in that section below)
-The all wheel drive is great for traveling on loose gravel roads
-Solid ground clearance for a vehicle this size

>The bad:
-very unintuitive system for adjusting the brake controller
-engine noise is whiny and annoying when accelerating (but quiet enough that music easily completely drowns it out)
-The mirrors are very small and with blind spot monitor system means no extra blind spot mirror for some reason - blind spot detection automatically turns off when a trailer is connected, so you end up with troubling blind spots when towing without adding some aftermarket
-many people will approach with questions about the truck at your campsite lol

General:
I really love the truck overall. It's great for my needs and is a perfect balance between a capable truck and a practical daily driver. (I live in an apartment in an urban area). My only real gripe is in engine noise and that's really insignificant since the engine is very quiet. I've taken it on many back country dirt and gravel roads, and it's capability has never disappointed me. This is my favorite vehicle I've ever owned.

Nice looking camper. How would you review it?

Wife and I are recently retired and considering a small one for our MAV.

I like it, but I can't recommend it as there's been a lot of workmanship and design choice issues with it.

We are buying the Hybrid Mavrick because our Prius is straining to get our 1200 camper up mountains in eastern US. When we use mostly ethanol free gas, our mileage is 28mpg on interstate and E10 gets us 22mpg, back roads is 31.5mpg where I can drive sustained speed. Our camper is much shorter than yours and less drag but uses linear actuators to raise the upper section 30 inches. Isn't your speed limit like 80 mph?

many of our highways have a 75mph speed limit, but I usually don't go above 70 and usually stay around 65 when towing.

Thanks for the review. RE: Sway- FWIW, I attended a local dealer Training session back in September and checked out my 1st in person Maverick. It was Eco 2.0 Lariat with FX-4 and 4k Tow package. I haven't been able to find any info on sway control on the Mavericks, so I asked the Ford trainer about it. He told me they don't advertise it, but all Mavericks include it as a standard feature. He couldn't tell me if that was just with 4k tow, or if Hybrid and FWD 2.0 also had it. I mentioned our 2018 F-150 Sport listed it as a feature even without tow package added and he said he assumed it was same for the Maverick. Since 4k tow package includes the brake controller, I do believe it also has sway control. Your experience seems to confirm it (y)

That is really strong towing FE, is that hand calculated? What type of gas did you use? What was your trailer weight as-towed? (you say 1800 lbs empty)

Also, what do you mean by the TBC being unintuative? Does your TT have brakes?

I'll be max towing with mine (tandem flatbed), so always enjoy the tow reviews!

Very glad to hear your towing experience. We ordered the 2.0L, XLT, AWD with towing package also. Don't tow often but was planning on getting approximately 2700 lb. Dry Weight Travel Trailer. Your opinion appreciated. How much truck & trailer weight did you figure on trip? Thanks.

MPG is from the onboard computer. Regular 87 gasoline. As towed the trailer was around 2000lbs.

I still can't figure out how to get it to actually show the number that the brake controller is set to, and the manual is no help. My TT does have brakes, though it hardly needs them at that weight.
