5Star Tuned Today

I bought the SCT X4 with a 93 daily tune from 5Star. Received the device in a few days and once I sent back my truck's data they emailed the tune a couple days later. I uploaded today and it made a big difference in the way the transmission shifts and the mid-range power. I'll give more feedback as I drive it over the next couple days. They said it will take a few hundred miles to fully learn. Another great feature is the auto start/stop disable.

It was $460 including tax and shipping.

And yes, I am aware it could void my warranty.

Interested to hear how it goes for you. I might get a tune from them as well. Did you also get an 87 tune? Is it easy to switch between them?

I only got one tune, the 93. It was additional cost for up to 10 tunes. Not sure how easy it is to switch between. Jury still out of MPG but I don't get the greatest mileage anyway so far in town mostly so it hovers around 21. 1600 miles total.

You'll be a perfect test for me then, I get 22mpg avg right now. 900 miles.
I thought you got 3 tunes from 5-star as the basic plan. But I haven't actually bought one

Any chance you have a draggy to compare things like 0-60 and 1/8th or 1/4 mile times to stock? Their dyno chart looked pretty impressive for just 93 octane! When I talked to them, they stated the trans is the same as the Edge ST, so the crazy peak torque early on is not a concern, which is wonderful news!

This is the direction I plan to go since I already own a SCT X4.

Sorry I don't have a draggy but there might be another iphone app I can use. I can say that so far the truck just always feels ready to run now, not lazy. Any this is in normal mode...put it in sport and watch out, this thing wants to pounce!

chris, if you take it to the motorsport ranch in angleton next weekend i'll take mine instead of my 66 and we can do a back to back lap time comparison.
i actually thought about taking mine but the only device i have is harrys lap timer on my iphone and it doesnt reliably record videos. i thought it might have been fun to post the first "on track" video in a maverick. (and beat terry fair at vorschlag to it)

Ordered bdx tune with wifi. then they tell me i can't use wifi. i have to use a computer to update the tuner. the purpose of getting wifi was to not use a computer. they are terrible.

Maybe see if you can return and get a less expensive tuner. Process was easy for me using a computer to load the files. I do not think they are terrible, I had a good experience.

Dang, just seen they raised their prices back up on their tunes! I guess I should have ordered my tunes even though I didn't have my Mav, lol.

How much is it for you to add another tune after the fact? I plan to order as many tunes as I can from the get go, hopefully they have the E30 and E50 tunes by then!

It was $10 for each additional tune up front when ordered, not sure after the fact but I can email them to ask and report back here.

Pass, $600 is getting up there for a tuner and and 1 tune. Especially considering there wasn’t a lot of work to unlocking anything special in the ecu.

I paid $520 for a SCT X4 and 3 tunes on my Mustang.
The $460 you paid plus 1 tune sounds very reasonable. To bad 5 star jacked the price out of the sky.
