I have not done the various BCM-related recalls on my '22 ecoboost 4k truck yet.

I am considering having my dealership do them when I visit for an oil change in the new few weeks. has anyone done those recalls with a tune? if so, did everything work as expected or was your tune uninstalled, or did you have issues?

I have a cobb accessport so I could actually un-install it and then have the recall updates done, and then re-install after. besides the fact that uninstall / install of an accessport takes like 30 min for each, I think this is probably the safest way to proceed, but I'm curious what everyone else has done or plans to do.

I haven't let Ford do any of the recalls on my truck yet, but when I do, I'll revert back to stock first. I'm almost positive they completely rewrite the factory tune, and in some cases strategy codes change, and your tuner has to give you updated tunes to match as well.

thanks. that sounds like a vote for uninstalling and re-installing. :ROFLMAO:

Never ever go to a dealership for software work w/o removing your tune.

Definitely recommend uninstalling the AP before going in for module software updates. Uninstall should only take around 5-6 minutes. Install should take a similar amount of time - if you select 'Backup ECU' at install, it will take longer. The backup process is something that I always skip even on my personal Maverick. If you do not backup the stock ECU, at uninstall the Accessport will pull a stock ROM from a library of ROMs in memory that are pre-loaded in firmware to flash back to stock. Saves a lot of time and has no downsides.

On my 22XL I lost TSR and Cruise Control after a recall update. On my 23XLT, I lost TSR after an update. Both were easily fixed via ForScan.

You do need to uninstall the tune. If you dont the factory programing over writes it and it will be lost. Also let your dealer know what tune you have done to it. Every once in a while the tune will cause problems with the reprogram. If the dealership knows they can account for it. Also bring the programmer with you just in case they need it.

That sounds like the absolute worst advice you could give someone when working with a dealership.

there's a few Ford dealers that are Cobb pro tuners. like a handful in the entire country.

everyone else I would not expect them to know anything about tuning or do anything other than blame it for any current or future issues.

Yeah, I’d be a little disinclined to tell my dealer I’m tuned.
