I ordered the Truxport despite some concern about the reviews but it has turned out great. As has been reported it could stand to be about an inch longer. I took some time installing it, making adjustments along the way. The main thing I think was getting the weather striping as close to the edge of the bulkhead as possible but still with a good seal. It took a couple of tries, but worth it. Honestly, I was surprised when I dropped the tailgate after driving through a downpour and didn't see a drop of water anywhere on the bed.
-I can +1 to this. My Truxport has been perfect for 5 months now, including a New England winter an spring. Totally dry bed. I think folks are installing too far back towards the cab, the stripping should be at the edge of the bed.

This is so ironic of a thread. I was literally about to post of an UPCOMING cross country trip, Phoenix to Minnesota.
Your review Skeeziks is outstanding! Was great to see your experience, giving me some insight on what to expect!
I just today hit 1000 miles on my Lariat Hybrid w/Truxedo soft rollup cover. I figure by the time I get back, I'll be in the 5000~6000 mile range give or take.
Looking forward to utilizing the adaptive cruise feature, and showing the truck off to the family back home. Come to think of it, I better get it washed when I hit the twin cities lol.
Should be in a couple weeks!

Few ever mention the comfort of the seats. I too usually have to take a break after a few hours to relax my rear-end. But not in the Maverick....definitely one of, if not the most comfortable seats of any vehicle I've owned.

I will have the base hybrid XL seats when my Maverick arrives in 2028. I know the covering is different in the various packages, but are the seats the same ?

I thought of a couple of added notes that might be of interest.
I didn't track the distances for each tank of gas except the last one. I filled up in Albuquerque headed home to Phoenix, 423 miles and still 1/4 tank left, 149 miles to E?! Granted a lot of that was downhill but still potentially 500 miles on a tank of gas? I would guess that I averaged better than 400 miles per. On one fill-up I had driven it down to like 25 miles to E and put in 16.2 gallons in what I thought was a 16 gallon tank.
One thing I miss on the Mav that I had on the Escape is the rain sensing wipers. We drove through a lot of the misty type rain where that would have really been helpful.
I had seriously considered ordering the Hybrid because of the better mpg. I went with the 2.0 with the tow package for the option of towing a larger trailer down the road. Now to get 32+ mpg with the 2.0 I am quite happy with the decision. I typically get in the 28 range in local driving which would be considerably higher with the hybrid so that's the trade-off.
I liked my Escape a lot but the Maverick is more vehicle, bigger engine, more stability, a more comfortable ride and with as least as good fuel economy so I call it a big win.
Vehicle: 2022 Maverick, 2.0, Lariat, 360, 4k tow, with a Truxedo soft roll up bed cover.

Disclaimer: I am not a technician, car aficionado, or an expert on all the nuances of a driving machine. I'm just a driver who enjoys driving, and a nice vehicle.

That aside, my wife and I recently completed a 4000+ mile road trip from Phoenix, AZ to mid Michigan in our new Maverick. It was not a "pleasure" ride, but to attend a memorial service or a relative who had passed away. So it was an "out and back" with no side trips or excursions. It was mostly on Interstate highways or 4-lane highways. On the freeways the adaptive cruise was usually set at a constant 73 MPH. The trip covered all sorts of terrain and weather conditions, up the mountains out of Phoenix, through quite a bit of rain, some quite heavy, and some strong cross winds.

I liked the Maverick before we left, and I love it now. What a smooth comfortable ride! I have a fair amount of back and hip pain and normally require my wife to drive a significant portion on trips to give me a break. But on this trip I drove the entire 4226 miles with none of the discomfort I expected, without any medication, and without needing to stop every couple of hours. I was completely and pleasantly surprised by this.

The Mav handled the road conditions, traffic, and weather like a champ. Held steady in the very strong cross winds. The only thing that made it shudder a little was a wicked little dust devil that snuck out from an overpass in New Mexico. And completely unaffected when passing or being passed by tractor-trailers.

I love the surprising amount of "juice" it has when needed to make some passes on a few two lane roads.

I ran it almost exclusively in ECO mode and I tend to be a conservative driver so I am generally going to get a little better gas mileage than the average. I had hoped to average better than 30 MPG, and after getting out of the AZ mountains it was in the 26 range, but gradually improved to average over 32 for the entire trip.

Images are outgoing, return and overall.

As an added bonus, the Truxedo tonneau cover performed perfectly...not a drop of water in the bed despite some pretty heavy downpours.

Ya I have 14k on my ecoboost maverick and usually get between 29-31 but I live in Maine which I'd pretty hill laden and haven't had any problems even in the winter storms the truck stayed completely stable like they weren't there
I live in NJ, and I drive 90% Garden State Parkway to and from work, at nearly 5,000 miles and averaging 23 mpg. On one trip to Florida when we first bought the Maverick , we got 29.3 mpg. On the Parkway and Interstate highways, mostly drive about 70 mph.

Thought it was the winter gasoline mix, but you are in Maine- do they have winter blend of gasoline?

Starting to think there is something seriously wrong with my Maverick (Lariat with 4K towing and soft tonneau cover).

That's great. Don't think the Hybrid would do any better. How much weight did you have in it besides the two of you?

Not much additional weight. We packed light since most of the time we were on the road. Besides the two of us probably no more that 200-250#, so 500-600 total.

The only thing I don't use is Lane Keeping Assist...It's too much of an annoyance for me. I love, love, love freeway driving with the Adaptive Cruise Control, only rarely using either the brake or accelerator. I also think that contributes to the physical comfort level with the ability to position and reposition my feet however it's most comfortable. I was able to drive for hours without feeling the need to stop.
I also really like both the Auto Start/Stop and Stop and Go brake assist. I know not everyone likes the start/stop feature but once you adapt to it, it's hardly noticeable, and certainly contributes to gas savings when sitting at a long stop light. The brake assist is another thing you have to get used to but I really like not having to keep my foot on the brake pedal, and is particularly useful when stopped on a hill. The cross traffic alert is great also especially when backing out of a parking spot.
What is the brand name of the adaptive cruise control & where can a person obtain one?

Not sure my MPG has been stable since I got it back in October. To be honest I haven't ever heard of winter blend gasoline so can't say much on that. I also have a tonneau (mine is the soft trifold) but I didn't notice much of a difference when I started using it maybe .5 a gallon. I also am not babying the truck either.

I drive like a normal person usually I am driving 5 to 10 over speed limit. Only guess is maybe the Parkway has a higher speed limit up here its 70 on the highways and I am usually doing 70-75. But if that isn't true or about the same then it is possible you may have something causing it maybe a sensor that is reading wrong. Won't hurt to have a dealer plug it in and take a look for some code that normal code readers don't show. Kinda like error reports that the truck store but doesn't cause a Check engine light.

Thanks for the review. I live in Kearny AZ and have yet to even see a Maverick so this is the kind of review that is very informative. Especially that it was comfortable for those of us who have back pain. I'm 75 and this is my last truck and I made the decision to order one. Thanks again for the review.
I’m with you, 59 with cancer, this will be my last. So it’s nice to see how quiet and comfortable it is. Now if I can find a good place for my 12” sub with enclosure, that would be great!
