The degredation I have on CD is from mild scratches and flexing from cold and heat...which you don't have with flash drives.

I got one (not exactly the same model) because I got a few DVDs that were scratched and I didn't discover it while they could still be returned. And of course my CDs have gotten scratched over the years.

You can't buff out disc rot, though. I've had that on some discs, too.

I did that until the folder size started to cause problems. Now I just use Plexamp to play from my home server (with local downloads as needed for low-connectivity places).

But fwiw, if you want to add audiobooks to the equation, I think audiobookshelf+Prologue is the way to go.

I use my own USB stick with my choice of music.

I mostly use SiriusXM satellite radio and YouTube for my music needs but I would love to see a photo of how it looks mounted in the interior of your Maverick.

Never use CD's to play music anymore - I get CD so I can use Apple ITunes to organize songs, then copy ITunes files over to the flash drives....I just keep the CD as my original backup..my flash drives are 1, 2 gigabytes for $3 or $4 each from AliExpress.

Itunes allows you to preference what to play, sequence, volume, and lot more preferences. AliExpress flash drives are dirt cheap. I find on the Maverick if you put too many songs on a flash drive CarPlay is slow to Index the music, so I put like type music on each flash drive. Flash drive is much faster than a CD. I find best places for "new" CD's is Ebay or Goodwill, sometimes Amazon. 95% of the time they are new CD's.

There's no place in the interior to set this CD player I bought so I 3D printed this little tray. The round bit fits snuggly in the cigarette lighter and suspends the player up out of the way without taking up any storage space.
