Hello guys so I'm an unlucky fellow and my grille camera got smoked by a rock and is cracked i have a replacement. But before I start anything just looking for info. Is it a simple plug and play or are there other things to do. If it's forscan I'm decently adept at that but all info is appreciated

Update: just an update I got the camera all hooked up I havent done anything through forscan yet but the camera booted up right away without any input from me and it looks like the images are all spliced together properly. Haven't had a chance to try the lane centering yet but I have high hopes it'll just work

You would need to do LIN initialization & 360 calibration

Back to Ford or a glass shop or body shop that has the equipment.

Interweb:
  • Module Pairing: The new camera module must be flashed and paired to your truck's computer network (using Ford's diagnostic software or a dedicated scan tool) so the vehicle recognizes the new hardware.
  • View Alignment: The 360-degree or parking camera system requires proper alignment so the digital grid lines and composite overhead view stitch together correctly without image distortion.
Options for Service
    • Ford Dealership: A local dealership has the proprietary Ford FDRS software to properly program and align the module.
    • Third-Party ADAS Shops: Specialized auto glass or collision calibration shops with advanced target boards and scan tools can also perform the service.

I've seen that it can be done with forscan just wanted to confirm with someone who might have used the feature before. That it actually works

Yes both things can be done through Forscan. The calibration steps sound fun!

  • Drive to a large, empty parking lot with highly visible, freshly painted white or yellow parking lines.
  • Click through the prompt on your laptop, put the car in Drive, and press the physical Camera button on your vehicle's dashboard.
  • A special calibration graphic will appear on your vehicle's center sync screen showing your steering angle, vehicle speed, and a progress percentage counter.
  • Drive very slowly (under 5 mph / 8 km/h) in straight lines across the parking spaces. Keep the steering wheel perfectly straight.
  • When you run out of space, stop, turn around into a new row of lines, straighten the wheel, and resume creeping forward. The counter will pause during turns and resume when straight.
  • Once the progress bar hits 100%, stop the vehicle, keep your foot on the brake while leaving it in Drive, and click OK on FORScan to finish processing the alignment data.
